I'm doing great! The drugs were great! It didn't hurt at all like i thought it would. I am just now in pain...the medicine has worn off. I just took some hydrocodone left from my surgery so hopefully that will help me!

Hippmom....maybe you could ask if they would do it in the office...from what i understand dr. keilin will do it in the office but dr. hekier does it at the hospital....i think that's the right info.

anyway, i gotta go i'm not typing well!!!

Hippmom, i was wondering how you knew your tubing needed repair?

i am asking because i noticed my port is always sore and i wondered since i don't have much restriction if maybe it wasn't making it to the band.

anyways, i fell plum OUT OF THE BOX

this is very hard at times. i hope i find my spot soon.

after 3 fills i had no more restriction then i did from the begining so they ck the port under flouro using contrast dye and when they did the fill you could see it pouring into the tissue around the port. of course i still blame them because of the number of sticks i had with each fill the drs could never fill me without at least 6-8 sticks or under flouro!!!

Hello everyone, it's Dr Hekier.

We've decided for the new year we want to get very active on our blog on our website and use it as an opportunity to answer your questions. I haven't been as active on this site in the past year as I used to be, and we are going to have all of our staff participate on our blog, myself and Dr. Keilin, Betty and the nurses, and Stacia and Tiffany to answer insurance questions.

We are trying to work out a few computer issues and hope to get things on track by January 2009. Another thing we want to do is get everyone's email address so we can notify people of support group meetings in their area or any other timely topics.

We want to know what topics you want us to address so leave a comment on the latest blog topic at our blog at Texas Lap Band Talk

Please note that we generally cannot offer specific individual medical opinions or advice due to medico-legal reasons and privacy issues which is one reason I have been largely absent from this site. :frown: Also, we never want our patients to feel we are lurking or snooping around. That's why I tell everyone, use a fake name!

this is great!. my first question is this: at surgery after the band is placed, is it looked at under fluro to see if all is flowing correctly?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
