Milk of Magnesia. Search the site on it. Worked for me. Take it for at least a week, even when things start to move.

Good, keep on taking it, even if it doesn't seem to be working. It is a cummulative thing.

I found wheat thins Fiber Selects and eat a piece of whole grain bread every other day and that amount of fiber in my diet has me very regular. Once you get going you might try adding similar foods. Plus, I love the crunch of the crackers...I kind of miss that. 5 crackers are enough to satisfy.

Janis, how far out from surgery are you? I wasn't able to eat white bread let alone something hardy like a whole grain bread until I was almost 6 months out. Same thing with crackers. Most nutritionist recommend staying away from breads and crackers for awhile as it does expand in the stomach once it becomes saturated. This will take the space for foods that actually have nutritional value. Early out, it could put undo pressure on your staple line.

You may need to try a suppository or an enema.

Hope you get relief soon. It's miserable!

I ran into this issue as well. I like to take a more natural approach w/ issues like this. I added flaxseed oil supplements daily & consume chia seeds.

I am 9 weeks out today. Saw my doctor, exercise consultant and nutritionist this morning. bread and limited crackers are approved, as tolerated. I have had no issues at all. I would NEVER suggest anyone go against their nutritionists guidelines. I have noticed there is quite a wide range of opinions on all things " sleeve".

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
