Today is day one for me too, and I'm starving too. I've had my moments of insanity all morning, but we can do it. I tried a tip from someone else on here about getting the Body Fortress chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Powder from Wal Mart, and adding warm Water to make it like hot chocolate. That helped me through this morning. You can do it!!!! Hang in there. It will be worth it.

You can absolutely do this! Drink, drink , drink. It will help. If not just Water, try Powerade zero or Vitamin water zero. It might help to have some extra flavor.

Good luck!

It's a test of willpower. How bad do you want this surgery? How much do you really want to change your life?

WLS isn't the easy way out. It is however a real way out. If you can overcome these challenges you will succeed and feel better than you ever have before. Just stick with it

I started mine today too! I have not really been hungry at all i think because I have A LOT going on. my dr moved my surgery up 5 days. im scared that it is going to hinder my liver shrinkage because i will only be on liquids for 9 days instead of 14

@kbraun I think it's ok that u only get 9 days preop, my dr recommends 10-14 days so I would think 9 would be alright. Lucky you that you are to busy to think about food. I haven't been busy enough to keep my mind off of it... :(

by day 3 it will be easier. after surgery you will be lucky to get 200 cal. in one meal. I am 3 weeks out today and and only can do one egg, most of the time i cant even finis the whole egg.

Fight now it makes it easier later on.

You can do it

I am on day 3 of the liquid diet and yesterday was hard. Here's what has helped me:

Stay ahead of your hunger, don't wait until your dying or you'll never feel satisfied. For me this meant eating something (a shake, sf pudding, whatever) every 1-3 hours.

Keep busy. I was lazing around the house yesterday and so food was all that I could think about!

Drink Water but wait at least 30 minutes after eating. Sleeve rules about no eating and drinking seem to help me stay satisfied longer.

Focus on the skinny. I weighed myself this morning and am already down 3 pounds! I've also been browsing the Victoria's Secret website to try and stay motivated. Also someone posted pics of a normal liver and a fatty liver. That was motivating too; I don't want that gross fatty liver inside me!

Good luck! We CAN do this!

@erp! Thanks for the tips! I've been browsing Vic. Secret too! Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been doing that! I bought a new bathing suit from target and it stares me down hanging from my mirror in my bedroom! I know working hard now will only help Down the road! Thanks to everyone for the motivation! :)

You can absolutely make it. The first three or four days are the worst and then it gets so much easier from there! I'm currently in week eleven of a similar diet.

I am exactly two months post op and I am 61 lbs. down. I too struggled when I went on my pre op diet especially since it was around the Holidays. But you can do it. Although the surgery is definitely not an easy way out, I agree it's a way to a better healthier you. It'll be worth it. Hang in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
