My PCP just called and said I tested positive for H Pylori. But I can't reach my surgeon until Wednesday because it is Mardi Gras season in Louisiana and every thing shuts down for Fat Tuesday. Ugh! Now I'm stressed. And my PCP won't start antibiotics until he talks to my surgeon. My surgery date is 14 days away. SCREAM!!! Anyone been through this?

I had to take antibiotics for this as well but the antibiotics were a 14 day prescription. Good luck to you!

Your surgeons office might still have an call service. Have you tried leaving a message for your surgeon? Could be a long shot, but worth a phone call and a little peace of mind.

Good luck!

Definitely would call the answering service and have him paged or have you pcp do it to get the meds started.

Gastric dr said i will have to take antibiotic for 2 weeks then wait 30 days after then be retested and wait another week for results.. my surgery schelduled for 3/14/13. So upset. This pushes my surgery to May 2013.

My dr never retested me. I took all 14 days of meds and had surgery on day 14. No problems.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
