I feel bad first day

Oh my goodness the first day after surgery I was regretting my decision to have the gastric. Thank God I did I feel a lot better now just a lot of discomfort still

I'm getting my liquids in but when I drink I was getting nauseous. I have figured it out... its due to having to burp. So I usually burp a lot. The bubbling and rumbling gas is all I have to complain other than normal soreness.

And oh boy... I bet she won't let you forget that! !! I am also on oxycodone (not mixed with tylenol just straight oxy). It makes me really sleepy

Oxy make you nauseous as well, At least it does me.

I had my sleeve done on January 31st' date=' I am feeling almost normal now. I have lost 26.5 pounds total including the preop diet. I was wanting to start doing some light exercise like walking, but I have been advised not to until I am about 4-5 weeks postop. Has anyone else been told not to exercise? [/quote']

I was told that it would be 2 to 4 weeks depending on the person.

Its when I drink I feel nauseous. But I found if I burp it goes away. Sounds like waves are crashing around in my belly!

Anyone else getting hiccups? I get them several times a day, they sure do not feel good

I was regretting (and still am a little bit) about the surgery because I honestly didn't think I would not be a fast recoverer...I've said in previous posts that I have had a breast reduction and Tummy Tuck and for being such big operations I did so much better but I never really sat back and thought about part of my organ being taken off!! I don't have much soreness in the incision sites just hoping to keep everything down, the doctor said the top part of my stomach was really swollen and that's why I needed to not drink anything else yesterday and give it a rest

Hint the nurse gave me. When you feel nauseous open an alcohol swab and put it under your nose. I was amazed, within seconds it started working.

My dr advised against any exercise except light walking on flat ground until my next visit which will be one month out. My surgery was feb 5.

Hi! I was sleeved a few days ago (2/12/13) and I'm so glad this forum exists! I haven't weighed myself yet because I was planning on doing it weekly. Is that a good idea?

That's a very good idea

I told my boy friend..I discovered what a Shart felt like first hand. I think he laughed until he puked..meh I look at it as all part of the recovery...a week or two of nasty and embarrassing stuff for a lifetime of sexy :)

Each day has gotten better..today I met my Protein goal! Came close on liquid but I am okay with being a little off. Unjury chicken Soup is the bomb and skim milk got me there today!

Hey everyone I was sleeved on the 11th. I have now puked twice since leaving the hospital. I'm on the Clear Liquids and I'm getting so bored of Water, chicken broth, Jello and ice pops. Things definitely taste different now. My tummy is still sore, especially after puking. Now I have developed a slight cough which doesn't feel good. I go to the doc tues and get my drain removed. I can't wait until I can eat purreed food. One of my wounds actually is slightly open doctor says it's ok that it happens sometimes, the body rejects the glue. I find the hardest thing is showering. Washing my hair for the first time was quite a challenge, my poor husband was so frustrated.

Question-has anyone not been given the 2 week pre op diet and only given 4 to 7 days that is a lower BMI? My surgery is Tuesday afternoon and I start on all liquids tomorrow. The nurse told me since I am at a lower weight that I didn't need to do the entire 2 weeks because it had to do with the size of my liver. I tried to start yesterday and I have no control. Has anyone HONESTLY not followed the pre-op diet?

I don't have a pre-op diet other than nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery. My surgery is the 27th...

I heard the hair washing was tough. I'm just going to put a patio chair in the shower and have the hubster get in with me!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
