Maybe I am a slow loser...started preop at 265. Now at 238 (down 27 lbs). On Feb 11th was 255 so am only down 17 since surgery. Feels really slow. Protein is not the main part of my diet and using myfitnesspal I see that I get in a lot of carbs.

I am starting up at the gym again tomorrow (had just been walking 20 min a day otherwise.)

Seems like I'm below average here ...

I would suggest that you cut back on your carbs and make sure your getting the recommended amount of protein. That may help.

My nutritionist said that protein and Water are the key. My only suggestion would be to focus ok protein. You are losing though and that is still a win!!

Hello February sleevers. I had my 7 week checkup today (missed my 6 wk because I was in the ER). I am down 35 lbs so far. Not too bad. I was doing absolutely GREAT until last Wednesday. I woke up at 3 am in horrible pain that I knew was a kidney fine. I went to the ER and it was confirmed to be a kidney stone. Of course I let them know I was sleeved and was freaking out my pains could be sleeve related. A CT showed my sleeve was fine. Thank goodness. The stone passed and I thought all was ok.. Until Sunday. Yep I was back in the ER with another kidney stone! Ultrasound revealed I have 3 more stones in my left kidney and 1 in my right. I am not looking forward to passing those. I have been so nauseous for a week now. I have not been able to eat' date=' take my Vitamins, get my Protein in, or drink my Water. I am existing on SF Popsicles. I literally feel like I have just gone back 5 weeks. I hope this passes and things will get back to where they were.[/quote']

Oh no I'm so sorry. I hope you get through this quickly.

I am 6 weeks out today .. down 21.5 ....... ONLY.

sad thing is that prior to the surgury I would have though that this was a GREAT weigh loss- however, after surgery and reading posts on this sight, I feel like its not enough and I must be a failure. I am doing something wrong.... someone posted ave weight loss after 1 month is 24% .... HA ... I lost a lil more than 10 %.

I have been eating about 1000 calories and burn about 250-300 calories a day 4 times a week with excersize. I would have thought I would be more successfull, maybe I need to go down to 800 cal and excercise the same amount.

I don't know ... its discouraging ...... they say don't compare yourself to everyone else... easier said than done :(

Maybe I need to throw away the scale and read different types of posts for a while - What do you guys think ?

I've been in a similar slump - no scale movement for two weeks now, but I was told to expect oddities like that. Lets give it more time to prove itself. I'm trying hard to focus on other benefits rather than the scale. I am a little more physically flexible, just ran into a couple of blouses in my closet that fit better than before, because I'm now exercising (when I never did before) am a little happier. I don't get out of breath as quickly as I did two months ago. Yeah, I know, I'm usually glass half empty, but after spending this much effort, money, time, am more apt to be a half full gal for a bit

I have to agree with the past few posts... We need to give it time to work for us. I've also been thinking that maybe some of us are slower to losing because we weren't the excessive over eaters to begin with. I always tried to eat reasonably healthy. I did have months here or there when I didn't care, but overall I was morbidly obese while constantly dieting and watching my intake. So, maybe I'm just over thinking it all, but maybe just maybe this is why the my scale isn't moving as quickly as others.

Interesting point and sounds just like me and I've lost 17 since surgery 2/20

Sleeved 2/20 down 30lbs since surgery but stalled since I started going to the gym. I seldom get all my Water in but get all my Protein in. I think I need to increase my calories because of the working out, but besides some cheese here and there or a pickle spear or two, I'm pretty limited to a Breakfast shake lunch shake and chicken and veggie dinner.< /p>

I was sleeved the 18 too and went for my 6 week check up and only lost 21lbs. I completely understand your frustration. BUT I know you're like me... Your clothes are soooo much looser and you're fitting into clothes you've not been able to, etc... I am 17 pounds from being under 200 and it's been decades since I've been there! I didn't have this surgery to follow a super strict diet, but to eat a lot less and lose weight! I still have a cookie now and then or something fried, but I only have one cookie not 6! I am 50 years old and know that I won't lose like a 25 year old. I can't set my expectations by comparing myself to others. I am excited about losing more and getting under 200! I will be there in a few weeks! How exciting! I still get discouraged and when I do, honestly, I don't come on here! I see too many people who had surgery near my date and have lost 50lbs! I see people being hateful and rude and to me that's more discouraging then my slow weight loss! Keep your chin up and know that you will get there! Sometimes on a slow journey you see the beautiful things that people going quickly miss!

I'm 5 weeks out and have lost 26lbs which is 13% of my body weight. It looks like more when you figure it up that way. It's way easier to squeeze into my clothes! I've been given the green light to eat regular foods. I'm taking it slow just don't want to fall into bad habits. I've never gone 5 weeks without eating chips or drinking diet coke so I'm gonna see how long I can go without and try to break the habit all together.

I've been doing fine, Until today. I have just NOT felt good all day today, or last night. My pouch is grumpy, it doesn't want anything in it, I tried some Soup last night and cottage cheese, that didn't go well, decided to try canned chicken with light mayo for lunch, it didn't like that either. I just went back to work 4 days ago, and I wonder if I'm just plain tired out and that's what's making me not feel good. When my pouch acts up, my back hurts, my shoulders ache...not a lot of fun. Does anyone else have days like this?

I had days like that 2 and 3 weeks post op. Since I felt like I was back to normal I tried to do all of the things i normally did. I was doing too much too soon. I'm almost six weeks out and for the first time ever i couldn't keep anything doen the other day. I don't know why my body reacted like it did but it's over now! Take it easy and feel better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
