FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Thanks! I know it's going to pick up. My losing has been rather slow. I was hoping to be at 150 before my one year mark. But I'm super happy with my progress overall and where I've come from. It's definitely been a journey that I am thankful for. Just ready to get moving! :)

Pics from right before up to 4 moths after surgery and one from recent. I went from 363 before surgery down to 215 now. I feel amazing only about 40 more pounds to lose :)

I think that's my issue too. Some days I feel like I'm starving and then feel like I eat too much. I've been struggling with losing anything lately and it's kind of depressing. My SW was 232, CW is 166, GW is 132. I was sleeved on 2/11/13. I've been between 164 and 170 since November. Just up and down with the same 6 pounds. I ended up having to have a hysterectomy on 12/11/13 and my doctor hasn't released me to exercise yet and I know that us probably the only thing that is going to get me losing. I also started drinking coffee and fat free Creamer and stevia again. Not sure if that's my problem too!

I also started at 232, Jan 21st (next week) is my 1 year. I am currently rocking between 154-156. I want to get down to at least 138. Just another 15 or so pounds to go and I'm on a sweet craving the past few weeks. Gotta get my but on track and exercise. What a gift to be only 15 pounds away from what I weighed when I was 18 years old! I'm 55 and 5'6.

I haven't lost (or gained) a pound since Thanksgiving. Either my scale is stuck, or I need to change something yesterday. I have dealt with plateaus before, but this is ridiculous.

I've been plateaued too but suddenly am down 4 lbs this morning! The main change I made this week was finally getting some exercise after having been sick for a month. I have the snow storm to thank (shoveling) but also went to the gym yesterday. Just hang in there, our bodies are still adjusting to this big change and lots of things beyond our control can affect our progress. I think being sick and on an antibiotic was part of the issue for me. It kept me from exercising but also just messed with my digestive system. I've also been working on changing some of my behaviors such as not eating anything after 8pm, and turning off the TV when I am eating, weighing myself everyday so I see all the fluctuations and just see it as information without judgement. I can eat a lot more now than I could 2 or 3 months ago and find myself struggling with feeling hungry too. Sometimes it's head-hunger but a lot of the time it's the real thing. I think my brain has a glitch when it comes to food and hunger.

  • Chelenka - I think your right. But the thought of exercising makes me ill. Finding the time to exercise (for me), is similar to finding time to have a tooth extracted!

Once you get started exercising you sort of want more and more and miss working out if you can't get to the gym! I never thought that I would be writing this, but it's true! Hope things start moving for you soon!

I agee w/ sun devil fan. But also I suggest looking for a physical activity you enjoy, maybe dancing to your favorite music in you living room. You might find that since you are so much lighter you will enjoy physical activity much more as it isn't so difficult as before. For me, when the weather is nice, I really love riding my bicycle on a nature trail, or just taking a walk. I don't love going to the gym but find listening to music helps make my time there less of a chore and also you get to know people after a while and it's nice to chit chat. Exercise isn't just important for weight loss and maintenance it is just good for you. Skinny people who don't exercise are at just as much risk for heart disease and even diabetes as heavy people, or so I've read.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
