FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Dr said I have vasovagal syncope. He thinks because I still have a large lower stomach that hangs and sits on my upper legs when I sit. It compresses the veins to my legs and causes pooling of blood in my legs. When I stand up the blood pumps to my legs and not to my head. This also happens after I eat' date=' it goes to my stomach instead of my head.

He is also doing blood work to make sure there is nothing else causing it. So now I have another reason to get this weight off!!! We discussed having a panniculectomy- removal of my hanging stomach. He said it will be more successful when I get below 200 pounds...so there is another goal![/quote']

Wow glad u found the reason thanks for the update!

I've never heard of that-- was it your primary dr or your surgeon u went to-- side note-- would that mean it would be medically a reason for that surgery.., :)

Ill have to look into that and see if I could have that - anything u can do for it- other than weight loss?

I sit to work, so I need to try and relieve the pressure off of my legs. I am trying by leaning my chair back this morning. This afternoon I am going to try and sit on a ball. The dr thought maybe one of those kneeling chairs. It was my PCP I saw yesterday. He diagnosed it by taking my blood pressure while sitting. it was 110/78. Then he checked it again after standing up. It was 85/62. If the top number drops by more than 20 or bottom number drops by more than 10...I did both :)

He also took me off of my HCTZ which I take for swelling in the legs...caused by my big tummy pressing on my legs, not allowing them to drain Fluid properly...ANOTHER reason to lose it!!! I had a dream I cut it off a few weeks ago!!! I would never do that, but oh wow, I was so much lighter!!!!

Hello to all of my fellow February sleevers. I was sleeved 2-5-13 here in Houston. By dr. Miranda. I was curious to know if I am alone? I have been experiencing depression lately. I have never been a over eater. Maybe eating the wrong foods or ( like I am now not eating at all). My HW:325 SD:307 7-21-13 240. So a 67 lb lost since surgery. I try n get my excersize in, have trouble getting Water in. My skin is getting horribly dry n sore won't heal on chin, looks like ringworm. I try n get my protien. My NUT tells me I should have lost more weight at my appointment on the 12th of this month. I am just really miserable lately! hair falling out, I have been real dizzy lately. I just don't know what's going on!! I need advice please!!!!!

Be proud of your loss! You have added years to your life by losing over 20% of your body weight. Own that! As far as taking care of your health, eating and hydration are imperative. Lastly, mental health is just as important as physical health. Perhaps seeing a mental health professional will help you sort things out. Best of Luck!

I've spoken to a psychiatrist and therapist! I still may sit and talk with him. As he is a great listener! But neither one of them I feel has dealt with wls patients. I'm trying and am praying things get better. Thanks ladies for answering! I've been on here all day and have seen that I'm not alone with what I'm going through. And have saw a lot of amazing opinions on the people questions. So I know I'm not CRAZY!!

I see in a later post that you tested hypothyroid. That is probably why your skin is so dry and could also be why you are feeling depressed. I have been hypothyroid and on synthroid for many years. Is the hypothyroid a new thing for you? You don't say if you are on medication for it. Being hypothyroid also slows your weight loss. Have you seen an endocrinologist? Really you are losing weight well but this surgery is such a big change. If you were accustomed to eating certain foods when you were feeling down and now you can't that might be part of the depression too. Also, if you aren't getting enough water that would explain the dizziness and dry skin. Try to work in more water and little fat into your diet, like avocado, Peanut Butter or olive oil. That really helps with the Hair loss IMO. Best of luck to you and continued success.

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6

Hello I was sleeved 2/25/13

HW 273

SW 258

CW 191

Only 30 left. Gotta keep going!

What's ur height? Is this your NUT's gosl weight or your goal? J/wondering I'm pretty much the same as you & on the same surgery date, I'm 5'7 & 190. My NUT wants me to weigh 180, but I'm not sure what my personal goal is or should be. I was 150 when I met my husband but everyone I work w/& my clients say that's too much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
