Recommended Posts

Weird! I guess it's just me, lol. I will continue to highlight your posts to read em, hehe.

I can't see them either! I have a laptop that is less than a year old set on the normal color settings.

Hi guys! So excited to be apart of the February Sleevers 2013!! I started at 258.8 2/17 weighed in surgery morning 2/25/13 at 248.2, and today I'm 239. I had a great hospital stay no complications. Great nurses :) I have pain in my right side like a stich when you work out too hard or walk too long. I get full super fast and am having a terrible time getting in the Protein and liquid requirements. But, I'm hopeful each day will get a little easier. And I'm wiped out. You guys give me lots of motivation though and I'm really glad for that!

Just ate a few bites of ricotta bake' date=' recipe I found on here and I feel very sick to my stomach, anything I can do to help my self from throwing up?!

I'm still sore I can't imagine the pain of committing :([/quote']

Make sure you thin it out, I didn't realize that was required in the beginning even if the food as soft and had unnecessary pain

I was sleeved on the 19th and my scale has also not moved in 7 days. From what I have been reading on here, it seems to happen to alot of people. Some have said it lasts up to 3 weeks. Try not to let it upset you. I am trying not to weigh myself just so I dont get frustrated. The pounds are bound to start falling off eventually.:-)

Help ㅠㅠ

I haven't lost anything in the last 3 days!!

I'm only 1 week out too!

I lost 8lbs this week and I know that's great but I'm wondering why I'm not losing now.

Also! I wonder about what each pain means. I can't tell if the pain means I'm full or if it means that my stomach doesn't like it.

Any thoughts?

edit: guess i should mention I'm low BMI and my doctor put me on soft foods/mushy foods after 3 days. i waited at least 5. started eating mushy foods and stopped losing. could that be the problem?? and no bm yet...

I think that is a wonderful outlook!!! We have the rest of our lives to work at this. Being obsessed with the numbers scale is an hold habit of mine that I swore I would not carry over after my surgery. As long as I'm doing what I'm suppose to, and I am feeling the benefits of that... Well, then I am succeeding. No number is going to tell me any different! ;)

It sounds like you will not have a lot of loose skin either. That's a good thing!!

I hope not but I'm sure there will be some? Todays weigh in day...4# down for a total of 28# and 12# in 3 weeks. Not bad...I haven't seen 291 in 10 yrs!!! (:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
