Recommended Posts

I have it pretty easy dress code wise. Business causal on Tues and Thurs' date=' I work from home on Mon and Wed (I could work in my undies if I wanted), and since this is Texas we get blue jeans on Friday. Today is my first day back on the job.[/quote']

It would be nice to work in the undies!!!!

Good luck heading back to work (;

I was sleeved 2/21- 4 days post op. I am getting most all of my protien in and almost all my Water intake. My meds are going down well except my multi Vitamin I threw up the first time I tried it so very cautious to try again. I was absolutley surprised in how much I could slowely intake even in the hospital...which was very encouraging. I'm ready to get to my soft food stage..I have so many healthy cooking ideas. Best wishes to each of you.

Great idea Diva Nurse, I was sleeved 2/14 I was my surgeons Valentine's date hehe. Doing pretty good, still no energy but I'm sure it will come back soon. My first post-op appt was Friday 2/22 and I was given permission to start pureed and fish. I thought that was the best thing in the world but cooked salmon one day and haven't had the stomach for fish since, and I went out and bought a big bag of salmon and tilapia like I was going to chow down lol. All is good though I am having an issue with getting in the recommended fluids and Protein cause I'm at the point where I don't want to eat or drink anything. But I have not had any of the awful side effects like nausea.

I thought those Protein Shots have collagen Protein instead of the whey isolate. From what I understand the collagen protein is not good for us nutritionally.

Hi all,

I was sleeved on 2/22, spent one night in the hispital and am home. I have been able to distinguish gas pain from the surgery pain. The gas pain is sharper, as it comes and goes The surgery pain is simply the feeling of tightness. My surgeon described the sleeve discomfort perfectly. he said the sensation is similar to putting on brand new leather shoes. There is limited flexibility and a feeling of tightness. My diet consists of Protein Shakes, non fat yogurt and sugar-free Popsicle s. I need to walk more and drink more Water.< /p>

I would appreciate any/all advice for the following questions:

1. How do we deal with work clothes? It's too expensive to buy new clothes every time we lose 10 pounds. I work in an office, so sweats are not an option.

2. Juicer preference. There is a ton of information on the Magic Bullet and Ninja. Do you use either? which do you prefer? Why?

3. What is your most comfortable sleeping position. Trying to get comfortable isn't easy.

Thanks in advance!

I was sleeved on 2/7 and am doing pretty good. The worst thing so far is my head hunger and being frustrated that I can't have certain things. Anyone else going through this? I feel completely horrible for feeling this way.

I too am really struggling with head hunger. I now realize how much I let it influence my life prior to surgery. I want everything! Even things I didn't like before I just want to stuff down my throat

I'm 6 days post op my Dr told me to stay on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks but I feel hungry

Kay, just keep going 1 day at a time, I had my surgery on the 14th and felt like my sleeve was not done right because I was so hungry all the time. My NUT told me I could go ahead and start on pureed at day 8 the day of my first post-op appt. Now I don't want to eat anything, I'm not hungry at all. I eat because I know I need to, so it gets better, What you are experiencing is what they call "head hunger".

I got sleeved on 2-21. Getting through the four days post op was difficult . Today is the first full day home and I'm not feeling too bad. I'm just learning what my stomach can fit and being diligent about my liquid intake. There was a couple if times I thought is this pain worth it? But I'm seeing the light on the other side as if today. I had an allergic reaction to anesthesia so my surgery took really long my family was totally freaked out. I can say I feel like the worse is over. Hope everyone is healing easy and happily! It's great to read about everyone's experiences .

I could not take it any more! I was weak and was going down the coffee isle at the store and yup my favorite coffee grabbed me and brought me over and said buy me! I DID!!! I had my 1st cup of coffee in about 2 months and let me tell you it is awesome!!!! I know I cant do it every day and that is why I also bought Decaf (:

My surgeon doesn't limit caffeine--it seems like most other surgeons do?

could you get some of your clothes tailored/taken in as your weight goes down? I bet no one will notice if you repeat outfits a bit more frequently. Just change your tie! :)

Walk around to help with your gas pains, it's helped me immensely. Lying down makes it worse. Burp burp burp ! I hope it gets better , I feel your pain. Day five post op is better

Ok guys I am 5 days post OP and feel blah....I can't get any Protein down and am basically living off of sugar free popsicles at this point. Yesterday I ate 5 SF popsicles and drank maybe 8 oz. of Water which I know is no where near my daily intake goals...I really have no desire to eat or drink....anyone else feel like this...I'm trying not to be discouraged but really am frustrated that I am not getting in what I should be...any advice

Try some G2 or some other juice with some low carbs and try drinking 1 oz every 15min. that's what my MD has me doing. The grape G2 has been my stand by when I didn't want anything else.

So, surgery is Thursday...I woke up this morning, and my little boy crawled into my bed- and suddenly I had this overwhelming terror of something going wrong in surgery. I thought- my God, I don't want to die having an elective surgery. I know the risks are low- but it's still surgery. I'm sort of having a hard time shaking it. (Sorry for the heavy subject matter-lol).

I think most of it is b/c I've never had an "elective" surgery before- so there was no time to like sit around and think about it before-hand. I've had several emergency type surgeries- so it wasn't anything to think about...anyone else deal with this prior to surgery? ...or am I just nuts? lol

No you are not nuts, I almost got freaked out too. But I just prayed (hope this doesn't affend you) and made peace with what ever happened would be ok. The first thing I remember (besides the pain) was my 2 beautiful daughters standing over me and my husband. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
