FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Tonight I've decided to give myself some tough love. As most of you know I was given clearance for a normal well chewed diet at 10days out. Since then my fluids and Protein have tanked. Starting tomorrow I am going back to the basics. I don't want to take any chances with my sleeve and will be going back to full liquids with one mushy meal at night. The little amount of food I can eat isn't worth the risk of not getting enough protein.

Wow 10 days out? Seems early but I know every ones surgeons are different. I have noticed that eating 3 times a day I'm drinking less! I need to stay on the schedule or I get all thrown off!

Maybe add 2 meals after another week? You will figure out what works best (:

Anyone only able to sleep on one side? I can only sleep on my left side and of course I'm a rightside sleeper lol. My hips are falling asleep so I decided to try again tonight and yeah... I got stuck in bed so my husband had to pull me out so I could lay on my left side ha

I have to say that sleeping has been a bit miserable for this side sleeper. I finally laid on my left side last night and almost cried with happiness. It only lasted about an hour though. My back and butt are killing me! About to try the side again. Night night everyone!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
