FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I got sleeved Feb 12th and am one week out. overall feeling much better than I thought by now. I am on Clear Liquids until tomorrow then I start full liquids. I am over this clear liquid stage. I actually think I feel a little hungry at times- anyone else? I go tomorrow to get my jp drain and staples out. did anyone else have the drain?

Hey, bonita19. I was sleeved on the 6th and was cleared for full liquids yesterday. I too was so over the clear liquid stage. It definitely served its purpose, but I was just reaching the end and starting to feel so weak and shaky much of the time. I did feel some times of hunger. It was nothing like the way I used to experience, but it was there. I also got my drain out yesterday morning. I was definitely over that after nearly two weeks too. I didn't have any staples, just one stitch that held it in place. The surgeon clipped that and pulled out the drain. I felt absolutely nothing. No pain, no weird feeling as it came out. no pressure. I wouldn't have even known it was happening if I hadn't seen him doing it.

Life is about to get even better! I'm not feeling totally back to normal yet, I'm still tired a lot, but I'm definitely happy to drink something I can enjoy now and to not have that drain in the way all the time.

So when your feeling tired do you take a nap or just rest a bit the continue to be active? Also the feeling of being too full has anyone experienced that??

As far as I know all of the B12 pills are sublingual or dissolving under your tongue. They really don't taste that bad.

I use the twin labs b12, chewable Multivitamin, and chewable calcium citrate. None of them are awful, but the Calcium citrate is the worst. The first few times it took them, I was grossed out. Now they are fine.

costco carries cheap b12, but nothing else in chewable or liquid form.

Thank you! Still wondering about Iron.

The Vitamin Shoppe has chewable Iron. They have some online. They are suppose to be better than the liquid.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to go there!

I haven't see the liquid vitamins in costco but if you order online they have some great sugar-free liquid Vitamins. The two brands are Reviva and Wellese. I have tried both Multi-Vitamin, b-12 sublingual and Calcium. Wellese brand is nice because it comes with a built in measuring cup. Reviva is nice if space is an issue in your fridge (thinner bottle). When you order you get twin packs about two months worth for under $25. The b-12 is a pack of 3 and a 6 month supply. These are great money saving options! Also we were told to make sure you take in calcium citrate NOT calcium carbonate. Costco sold some chews as well but unfortunately they were the carbonate (guess the citrate is better absorbing

When do you guys take your Vitamins? Like can you take the B12 at the same time as the multivitamin? And Calcium should be taken a couple hours later right? I'm confused and can't find any information on it.

Just have to share my great news. Today marks my 2 week post op visit to my dr office. I am down a total of 25 lbs and best of all I am officially off of blood pressure meds! For the first time in over 5 years I have a healthy blood pressure without meds! I am ecstatic! I never knew what a difference 25 lbs plus a healthy diet could do for me. :)

I'm very happy for you love.

Are any of you guys on this horrible lovenox shots? I have to have them twice daily for seven days to prevent blood clots..... They hurt soooo much :( Not the needle but the medicine.... Ugh!

Yes, I am on Lovenox and you are right the medicine burns. I notice that it hurts on some parts of the stomach more than others. You definitely want to do these because they avoid blood clots and you want a smooth recovery.

I don't have a drain, but I absolutely feel hunger. It's not a "head hunger" either. I literally start to feel hunger pains. Now granted it does not take me long at all to satisfy the hunger with just a sip or two of something. But I do need "something:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
