5 months out, hungry and eating more- help?

Recommended Posts

I think the title says it all. I have lost almost 60 pounds. I feel great. Doctor would like for me to lose another 20 before I stop. I have noticed I am feeling hungry more often and I can eat more. My weight has stayed the same for about a month.

I am taking a PPI,

I am not drinking all my Water,

my hair is falling out like crazy.

Has anyone been here?

Thank you!

Sounds like you need more protein/ up your calories every so often to continue with fueling your body you need to actually up your calories. How much are you taking in caloric wise and Protein wise?

I am exactly where you are, EXACTLY. I am not sure which is worse right now the almost stopped weight loss or the extreme Hair loss, but from reading the boards I do not think we are the first to go thru this and in time with some due diligence it will pass .

lost almost 60 pounds.- feeling hungry - can eat more - not drinking all my Water.- hair is falling out like crazy.

congrats on your weight loss :)

sorry about your hair falling out - common side effect  it does grow back, but i know that doesn't help you now - feel better in the fact that Hair loss is VERY VERY common

try "biotin" its a pill and does help the hair situation

as far as hunger, being able to eat more - that does happen after certain time periods for many (i was about 6 months when i noticed a difference)

but, saying "nicely with caring thoughts" you must/should measure your food out always

if your NUT says to eat 2/3 a cup per meal

measure that portion and put on your small plate - that way you are not "testing" yourself in seeing that you are able to eat more

ONLY put what you are allowed to eat on your plate - no seconds

otherwise, the food police WILL come after you - "they" are everywhere  :(

you are still pre-goal, measuring is a very important rule

at 14 months - goal - i still measure foods that i haven't eaten before

other more common foods for me (just made chili) i know how much my proper portion looks like in my bowl without having to measure

also, "ever so nicely" reminding you that you must get your 64 oz of Water in a day. very, very important to follow ALL the drinking rules :)

stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat - don't drink with meals - don't drink after meals for 30-45 minutes - need to follow

exercise too??? many, many/most people exercise while losing weight, and to maintain

in all honesty i didn't exercise enough while i was losing weight - crazy i know

but........now i am exercising - better late than never, right :)

try not to be discouraged (easier said than done i know)

you're at a little stall

"it" will get better

good luck bud :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
