madeupmind 27 Posted February 11, 2013 Just curious, I love Zumba and wondering how quick you were able to get back to it after surgery? I'm scheduled for sleeve on 2-25-13.
hadouni 301 Posted February 12, 2013 I was walking right away but I'm trying to think about Zumba and remember what my recovery was like (mine was a dream too). My dumb guess is probably 4-6 weeks to do high-impact cardio. Zumba can be pretty core intense (depending on how aggressive you are) and your abdomen will be sensitive and healing for a while. My surgeon was very "if it hurts, don't do it" with recovery but all I was doing was walking. Each surgeon has guidelines they like their patients to follow during recovery so check it out with their office and go with what they tell you! Good luck! You'll be back to Zumba in no time! cyncitygirl 100 Posted February 13, 2013 I did Zumba week 3 but didn't feel fully energetic enough until week 4. I had dull pain when jumping around the first week but I just stopped and tried again another day and I'm fine. You'll do great!
NewKristen 356 Posted February 13, 2013 I have been doing Just Dance and Zumba on my Wii. . I like it because I can go at my own pace, because I am 2 weeks out. I don't go high impact at all...no where close at this point. But it is good for my mental health, because I am doing something!

danyelleb 386 Posted February 16, 2013 I think six weeks if ur not modifying any moves. It depends on the instructor and how much ur really moving. Zumba can be quite the workout. Talk to ur surgeon, but the general rule of thumb is four to six weeks. There's a whole lotta of booty and belly shaking. Moving the abdominal muscles in that fashion too soon could lead to some major discomfort. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST
