I am 4 months post op. can I have banana or strawberries as in fresh fruit ? Has anyone else ate these two fruits ? I have a craving for them. I know one bite would probably be all I would eat.

I'm only 2 months out and the only fruit my dr says to avoid is grapefruit, although I can't remember why right now since I don't like it anyhow.

I hate to tell you tis but my bariactric nurs told me yesterday that I should wait for 6months before eating anything with seeds like tomatoes black berries rasberries strawberries and blue berries. however I did ask her if I could eat bannanas and she sid that that was ok . you don't want a seed to get stuck in a creavas that is still healing.

I have eaten raspberries mashed into Greek yogurt and I was one. I have has blueberries and was fine. A banana was fine but I blended it. I'm are it would fill you up quickly. I am of the belief your body wants fruit and is needing potassium.

I was cleared several months ago to eat pretty much any fruit and I am 5 months out. I would think that you should be fine but it is best to see what your NUT says and follow their plan. I am a fruit-a-holic now! LOVE IT! Hope you can get some soon!

It seems like every NUT is different. I was cleared for any & all foods 6 weeks out. They just said to limit it to 1 piece of fruit a day because of the carbs.

Grapefruit can impact how medications react in your body. The easiest way to explain it is that grapefruit makes many types of medicine be absorbed differently by the body, to the point where a normal dosage can become toxic.

You should be totally fine. By four months you can eat pretty much anything but celery and coconut. Go for it! Make sure to savor every bite!

I've been eating those since around 9 weeks. Again with all of the differences.

Many have trouble with the stringiness nature of celery before 5-6 months post op.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
