My favorite is chocolate Peanut Butter flavor, I get it from Walmart. It's like 16 bucks for 2 pounds. It has 26g Protein per serving. There are a lot of different places and favors to get it from though. I found a few places that had small size ones I could try first before I bought the big one to make sure I liked it.

I use Syntrax nectar powder. A big tub of it is a little pricey, but it goes a long way. So far it's the best tasing I've found, and there are a lot of different flavors. I get mine in bulk from The Vitamin Shoppe, but first I tried a sampler pack to see what I liked. I got it from here:

I like to blend in things like frozen fruit, PB2....right now my fave is a spoonful of cocoa powder with a spoonful of intant coffee powder...it tastes like a cafe mocha! Also like cocoa powder with a few drops of mint extract. Believe it or not, using a couple spoonfuls of either sugarfree Jello powder, or pudding powder to flavor the shakes is great too. Hope this helps!

You can also order samples of Matrix (mint cookie, Cookies and cream, etc) from MyBariatricPantry.com. If you have any food allergies then you may want to be careful about which ones you buy, as most powders are processed on the same equipments as some of the top food allergens. :)

If you get sick of the chalkiness of the powders, or just want an affordable grab-n-go Protein Shake, Slim Fast just started making high protein/low carb shakes. They are the same size as the regular SF shakes, but they have 20g of Protein and 2 net carbs. I have found a chocolate kind and a vanilla at Walmart. It is $5 and some change for 4. They taste really good.

I personally like powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury the best. Little pricier . I got mine at the hospital pharmacy but you can buy it online in many places. I use the vanilla and add sf Jello pudding mix. The pistachio is my favorite!

I've tried nectar in the double stuffed cookie and chocolate truffle flavors and they are really good, too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
