Hello all:

Just learned about this group, so wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ann and I'm in the process of getting banded. I hope to have it done in Oct or early Nov.

Right now, I'm on an eating plan that hasn't been too hard to maintain and I've lost around 15 pounds so far. I just had my psych eval last week and will meet with the surgeon for the second time in September. I'm also seeing a nutrition Dr. monthly and will go to a nutrition class tomorrow. Things seem to be going by pretty quickly so I hope being approved won't prove me wrong.

Anyway, I'm happy to have found this resource and look forward to chatting with you.

Ann

Hi Ann

Welcome to LBT

This is a very supportive group of women and men. Everyone here is very knowledgable and caring. You will enjoy this group and this site very much wether you are a lurker or a poster.

Congrats on your decision to get the band, it is the best thing I have everdone. It takes the "diet" out of losing weight.

Good Luck to you and I look forward to seeing you here often

Ann: I notice that you are in Southern Calif. Where to be exact? I am in Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley). The reason I ask is there is a support group meeting at my house on the 25th starting at 1p till 4p. You are most welcome to attend. Email me at penni60@aol.com and I will send you directions if you would like to attend.

Anyone else interested is welcome as well. It is pot luck and we will exchange clothes. So come and enjoy. Also, I have a pool so bring your bathing suit as well.

Penni:

I live in Temecula which is south of Riverside or North of San Diego, but am willing to travel. I would love to go to a lap band support group as my doctor (in San Diego) has one, but the patients are mainly RNY.

E-mail me where you are located exactly: annkinsey@adelphia.net. Even if it's a trek, if I can I'd like to attend. I appreciate the offer.

Ann

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
