Do you think I'd be okay to go to Vegas a month after the surgery? The trip is already paid for and it's for my best friends birthday but I'm wondering if I'll be able to handle it? All the walking and what not.

Yes! Go to Vegas!! I felt great at one month. It will be an entirely NEW experience because you will have to be more structured in your food choices. You'll be drinking Water instead of anything more fun too....But you can learn to eat out on this program. It's not that difficult. Take some Protein Shakes to pull you through the tough times! No buffets...that would be a big waste of money. YOu won't believe how much you CAN'T eat!! Have fun.

I had planned on a vacation for mid-May, with my projected surgery happening in early-mid April. I decided this weekend to postpone the vacation because I don't know if I'll be completely healed in time. Plus, there will be swimming and lots of food and I don't see being allowed to swim with the incisions not healed yet...and I don't want to jepordize eating something that may make me sick. I haven't paid for the vacation yet, so it's easy for me to postpone it (although I was REALLY looking forward to vacationing soon!) But since you've already paid for it, I would still go. You just have to be mindful of what you eat. I know a lot of people on here are still on puree's a 4 weeks out. All of the walking should be good for you...just take short breaks. Good luck and have fun on your vacation! :)

You should feel fine to go but remember the difficulty drinking (especially alcohol) and food that you will have to endure. Its not gonna be a walk in the part but it will be fun to be outside and experiencing Vegas if you haven't been already. Just remember, its not gonna be the same trip as it would be pre-op obviously.

As long as you are prepared with Protein drinks' date=' pre-planning for your food choices and the knowledge that drinking might be out of the question. (You can be the designated photographer.) Have fun![/quote']

I'm not a very big drinker anyways so being the designated photographer shouldn't be too hard! Thanks for replying (:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
