Iweeny 36 Posted February 10, 2013 I had the same problem. Take your pain meds. It will help you move around comfortable and get your bowels moving. You just had major surgery.

kiki1196 101 Posted February 10, 2013 Did the nurses teach you how to get out of bed properly? Roll over on your side, hold a pillow against your belly with one arm and use your other to push yourself up. Use your arm more than your ab muscles. Helped a lot with my csections and gallbladder removal. Hope you feel better.
Richard Foor 655 Posted February 10, 2013 As the other's have said it is definitely normal. I actually slept sitting up in a recliner for the first 2 to 3 weeks because it hurt to much to lay down and I was afraid of rupturing the internal sutures. You might want to speak to your dr. about it anyhow though just to be safe. Good Luck
My Sleeved Tummy 56 Posted February 10, 2013 Sounds normal to me. What really helped me when I got in and out of bed or to sit down was to hold a pillow tightly against my abdomen as I moved. It didn't take away the pain completely, but it really made it more tolerable to move. Take the pain killers. I hope you feel better soon!
sleever10 109 Posted February 10, 2013 Ditto to the pillow idea. I could not turn on my side at all (even to get up) and slept on my back for a few weeks. Do you have somebody who can help you up?
