strange and annoying dreams

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone else has experienced any strange dreams since surgery?

Some of the ones I am having make it difficult getting to sleep. Last night I had some trippy one that kept waking me up trying to convince me that I wasn't really sleeping I was somewhere else and needed to keep moving and stretching my arms and legs in order to stay alive. The night before I had a really vivid weird one where I felt like I got up and went to the living room doing things but I woke up and was still in bed but at the time it felt so real.

Plus I find it kinda hard to get comfortable in bed.

This morning all I wanted to do was sleep in like a normal person. I need the extra sleep after all. Frustrating!

You are just out of the surgery....are you still taking pain meds? That could be a contributing factor if you are. I didn't have strange dreams, just noticed that I remembered my dreams more after surgery. Things are back to the 'norm' for me. Good luck!

I dreamed that I died. I saw my dead body but I was thinking "I'm alive!!" and then I was sitting on a couch talking to my mom (she passed away 3 years ago) and she was explaining to me that I had died. I asked her how I could be dead if I still felt alive... but I never got an answer. I am a little over 2 weeks out... I had this dream 2 nights ago.

For the 1st week post-op, I kept having the same post-apocalyptic dream. I was taking some kind of psychological test. The group leader was testing to see who would fit into his team that was trying to rebuild society.

There was a 2nd one where I was uploading videos to some site like Youtube, but it was taking forever for the upload to complete. I knew I was in the dream, but I couldn't make it stop! I hated that dream.

And I was very uncomfortable during the 1st week. I had to basically sleep propped up like in the hospital bed. If I lay down, I would feel lots of pulling internally.

I think in addition to my weird dreams last night I also had a tickle in my throat and kept coughing. So I would have been coughing and stretching. Weirdness. No I was not taking pain meds either. I haven't done so in a few days.

I have had a couple of doozies too in the last ten days. I talked to others about it and I think that it is the result of several things... Mostly it seems to be my subconscious working through various things. We've had a self inflicted trauma, there's so much change in a short time, rewards, hopes, fears... It's is all great dream fodder. I think we're normal, but I agree it is disconcerting and NOT restful!

My sleep has not been restful or long enough. I have been up all day, 7am to sometimes 1am. And a lot of times I wake up once in between. A lot of my dreams center around fear and doubt but nothing that I specifically remember. It's like when I try to rest my brain is not getting the signal.

Also I've been a bit of an emotional mess, highs and lows more than once throughout the day. I really hope it evens out because I am actually tired and would like to sleep.< /p>

I've had this too! I wondered if I was the only one! I'm two weeks out.

I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but I've noticed that since surgery I've had weird dreams almost every night, even after being off my pain meds for almost a week!

I've been having really trippy dreams too! I'm about 20 days out and they have calmed down a bit once the pain Meds wore off but my body is still doing loopy things so I don't think everything's worn off yet.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
