I met with my surgeon last week, and he told me that the bad stays in for life (unless there are complications and he HAS to take it out).

The band is for life. It is what will keep us from rebounding like with all the yo-yo dieting we've all gone through in the past. Good luck and welcome.

Hi Jim, glad you are here, i am a newbie also. I guess you got your question about the forever part answered. It stays forever unless you want it out for some reason (complications, getting pregnant, just dont want it on anymore). I have not met anyone who wants theirs off. I have had mine 6 weeks and cant imagine wanting it out. My support group has every age but under 20 in it, so you are not really the old guy :-) Our oldest fellow in my support group is really feeling the benefits. His meds are down by 3-4 pills a day, diabetes (or high blood pressure, cant remember which) is better, arthritis is remarkably better. He is poster child for old guy bands :( My out of pocket costs were about twice yours, and it was worth every cent.

Good luck!:clap2:

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
