Recommended Posts

I am three weeks post op. every time I eat a meal (small amount of solid food) doesn't happen with shakes. I get really bad hiccups. Does anyone have this problem?

I get those too. I call them my full hiccups. I didn't look up what causes it but I do know its fairly common.

I'm 5 months out and I get that too. I also think it means I'm full and one more bite will be one too many!

I get them, too...and usually burp a lot, too. Thankfully, they aren't really loud! I'm almost 7 months out. My husband will still laugh at the sounds my stomach still makes! :)

Ditto, my experiences match yours almost word for word. I try not to get to this point up burps and hiccups, but sometimes I scarf the 3 oz of Protein too fast. I do not usually eat too much though, just sometimes too fast.

1.5 months out, and I get hiccups every single time I eat! Anyone know what causes them?

For me, hiccups are the sign that I should have already stopped eating and I ate too much.

I get the hiccups too. I think mine start after I have eaten too much. I usually get a little bit of a runny nose and mini burps when I am satisfied!

11 days post op and I get the hiccups all the time. It sucks. I don't know if I am drinking too much or what.

Yes, I am still getting hiccups! Nut says it is normal and my body's way of telling me I am full. She also said some folks start sneezing or yawning lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
