I went yesterday. They have a shrimp special. I shared a meal with a friend. It was 30 shrimp (very small ones) we ordered shrimp scampi and the mango jalepeno shrimp (mango on the side) It was very good! I didn't eat as much as my friend of course but it was the perfect meal for us. You could always take some home :)

Almost every restaurant has nutritional information available for public view on the web. They have some excellent options. Before going out to eat in a restaurant, I check it out first to determine what my choices that I will allow myself so that there is no guess work.

Somewhere on this site I posted in a thread an outline of many of these that were excellent low fat, low carb choices.

Crab Linguini Alfredo

Half Order 700 calories, 38g fat, 36g Protein, 1450g sodium, 52g carbs

Full Order 1350 calories, 74g fat, 68g Protein, 2800g sodium, 103g carbs

The half order has the same or more fat than a whole chocolate milkshake or a Whopper.

The regular order has more fat than a Big Mac with frieds and milkshake together. Only a few grams of fat less than an entire stick of butter.

We just stopped in red lobster to look at the menu. We ended up going across the street to Olive Garden. At Red Lobster, any of the grilled salmons or shrimps would be good. There are quite a few options. At Olive Garden, I like the new Italian Small Plates part of the menu. Perfect size in order to eat without packing leftovers and only 5 dollars! Can you believe it?

May I ask what was on the small plates menu?

May I ask what was on the small plates menu?

Sure, still have the table menu in front of me:

Tortelloni al Forno

Shrimp Crostini

Sausage Fonduta

Bruschetta Duo

Grill chicken Spiedini (I had this)

Sicilian Meatbslls (next time!)

Pan Seared Mozzarella

Parmesan Roasted Asparagus

The chicken Spiedini had 4 oz of chicken and I had a single bite of wife's salad. Perfect size!

Being on the other side of the planet. I've never been to a Red Lobster.

Having said that grilled seafood, especially shell fish, is my go to food if I'm anywhere.

If it were me, I would stop at a good restaurant, get something to go, and then sneak it in to Red Lobster or Olive Garden and eat it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
