Do I need another fill?

Recommended Posts

I have a 4cc band and I am filled with 2.0cc. I go back to the doctor on Thursday for a follow up and I'm not sure if I need another fill or not.

Some days I can eat just fine, some days I can't and end up PB'ing. It can be the same food. For example, one day I can get down fish ok, but the next day, if I try to eat leftover fish, I PB. So, it doesn't appear to be the consistancy of what I am eating, but the day in which I am eating it. I eat slow and chew well.

It has been 3 weeks since my last fill and I have only lost 2 lbs.

What do you think...should I get another fill?

These bands are fickle, that's for sure!!! I would kind of hold off on the fill until I could eat consistantly. Pay very close attention to how you are eating, is my only advice. I get in a hurry, or space out, and revert to my old gobble habits, and ooops......

My best advice would be to discuss it with the Dr. he should have better advice than I can offer, I am sure he has seen it all!!!

Good Luck!!

I am wondering the same thing because I have the same problem. Some days the same food goes down, other days stuck and slime and PB. And what exactly is that slime and where does it come from??

When you eat something that gets stuck, or makes your feel too tight, your body tries to help it get through by producing massive quantities of what we lovingly refer to as "slime". It is just mucus, a heavy type of saliva. The problem being, when things aren't moving, that thick stuff backs up quickly. I myself am a spitter when it comes to sliming. I keep a throw away cup or old water bottle in the car to use, it is gross, but safer than letting it make me throw it up. You are right tho, it is nasty stuff!!!

You might just put a call in to the Dr. and see what they say, and maybe avoid a wasted trip.

Good Luck!

Kat

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
