Oh yeah! They bite alright!!! I know! I live here in Florida. The are bad on South Carolina too. Grrrr. That's one thing I miss about Ohio is no fire ants. I miss Ohio alot actually but it's pretty great to be in Florida this time of the year!!!!

....lol, how do you deal with that.

We have black carpenter ants, they burow into wood and doors building nests inside and trek in through your kitchen next for crumbs.

you wear shoes especially in the grass and stay away from fire ant hills and never ever walk in sandals through a field. Its gonna hurt!!! I'm allergic to them so I have a bad reaction. Our yard is sprayed regularly so I can run in my yard with out shoes but I wouldn't dream of going into the untreated yards or vacant lots near my house. No Way!!!!

Bite is a mild word for what the fire ants do. It's more like they inject you with fire. Their "bites" leave welts that take a long time to heal. Their mounds are pretty big, when you mess with it with a stick like brat boy me likes to do, they come piling out and swarm around looking for the idiot that took them on.

They really are amazing creatures. When I lived in Louisiana, my yard got flooded and I noticed a red mound out in the Water. I waded out to see what it was. It was a mound of fire ants. They had made a raft out of their bodies, piled on the rest of the ants, the eggs, and the queen and were floating around. I thought of getting some lighter Fluid and lighting them up but I was so impressed by their teamwork that I let them live.

By the way, despite the fire ants, I love Florida with a passion. The warm air more than makes up for missing season changes. Constant things to do, festivals all the time, beaches, museums, much more. On Friday I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders, tonight I saw Steppenwolf both at Busch Gardens, free concerts, both awesome!. We do have platinum passes though, 15 months of entrance to Busch Gardens in Tampa and Sea World in Orlando, well worth the money.

YEP! This is true....their little floating torture chambers are a killer when it floods... It is amazing that one of those tiny little red things can inflict so much pain on a human! Just one can make you insane!

I have fear for the idea of gators I think and other hatchetable hot climate creatures as well, but I guess if you know about them well enough you sleep better at night.I do believe whats smaller there is larger here and the reverse, such as snakes, wild life and any bugs. Sun gives them venom too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
