There are a couple other things that can factor in to feeling "down" after surgery. The anesthesia can really mess with you, and it takes weeks before it's all out of your system. The other thing is, apparently a lot of hormones are stored in our fat cells, so as your body burns fat, those hormones flood your blood stream making you more emotional than usual. It's very common! It gets SO much better - hang in there! :D

If I may I was sleeved on 12/6/12 and I literally cried a good few times after surgery despite the fact that in 2 weeks I took off 19 pounds, It will pass you will feel normal again, head hunger still messes with me but not like it did for the first month after i was switched over to ground/soft food I snapped out of it. I have a nice sized family and they eat WHATEVER they want whenever they want and at first it was hard to watch them do this in front of me but as the scale moved down I just didnt want to cheat anymore and their eating habits dont bother me at all i have sugar free pops and stuff and i still dont even eat that i just want to reach goal and see the finish product so to speak. yesterday made my 9 weeks post op and trust me it will pass. I am very happy watching my body change and the scale move lower and lower.

Yeah I feel the exact same way.. I'm so happy I found people like me on here! My biggest fear is stretching my stomach back out and not losing the weight...

Haha i dont know what people are talking about when they say they have stretched their stomach back out, ITS IMPOSSIBLE! (At least from my experience). Trust me this will be the best thing u ever did for urself. I was sleeved in mexicali on 6/2/12 and lost 100lbs in 6 months. Thats all i wanted and needed to loose and i couldnt have done it without the sleeve. Ur new stomach will let u know when its full and i cannot fathom how it could stretch out! U'll be fine, take it one day at a time. Everyone has up and down days and my kids say i get angrier faster now but i think its just their way of getting out of doing their chores! :) good luck!

Urban myth.. The fact of the matter is your stomach will "relax" some over the course of a year or so. And you can definitely gain if you eat crap!

:)

When they operate they take the "fundus"out that is the "stretchy" part of the stomach

I don`t know if you can or cant stretch out your stomach but i bet most peoplegain liquid calories denial. my friend had a lap band 2 weeks before i did and she is 30 pounds heavier now. she always says she doesn't know how because she can't eat anything. she doesn't think her 44 ounce cokes and jumbo sonic blast everyday is the problem. her pouch isnt stretched either. i think some people go to liquid calories and fool themselves about it. it's not a miracle - we still have to put in the hard work and be accountable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
