needing some inspiration..or a kick in the butt

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done November 30 2012. I have lost 34 pounds since then. kinda slow for my expectations... :( I was seeing all these stories of people loosing like 30 pounds a month for the first three months so I was very excited of that possibility. but I have only lost 15 pounds a month :( this has brought me down.... :( I eat healthy, 15-20 carbs per day, watch my fat intake, and calories. I guess I just need some inspiration to pick me up to get back on the wagon. Ive been lazy when it comes to working out, and I know that if I tried harder it would happen faster. HELP!!! I need some encouragement!!

Hey, look on the bright side....you won't have so much saggy skin! Don't forget to add in some exercise to help burn the calories.

Hopefully that's some encouragement for you! Good luck!

Yes, you'll see posts about huge losses in the first months, but I'd say for your starting weight 15 pounds / month is excellent! Everyone's body is different, men tend to lose faster than women, younger people tend to lose faster than older, higher-bmi people lose faster than lower, and there are a zillion other factors. I know it's hard not to compare, and it's really hard not to envy those who are dropping weight faster, but I think you're right on track!

Hey your going ion the right direction! Any loss is great loss! Just keep a diary of everything that goes into you mouth. It could be just this one little snack or a certain carb that just isn't good for you. Once you have a weeks worth or diary look it over. Maybe there is somthing you can tweak on your eating regimen. Make sure to move, weather you walk or do a workout using a dvd at home, it's super important to move. I play music and dance around while I do my housework, cooking etc. Before you know it your sweating.

You've gone from a BMI of 42 to a BMI of 33 - You are nailing it!

I'm assuming that you must be um, shorter, for an amazing fall in BMI like that for 39 pounds. It's all relative.

When you started this you were 'Very Severely Obese' (sorry, you were :P so was I ;) ) with a BMI of 42.

You've powered through 'Morbid Obesity' BMI 35 to 40

You're currently 'Obese' BMI 30 to 35 (me too!)

You are on the precipice of falling into the 'Overweight' category - BMI 25 to 30

and you've almost lost half of the weight you want to lose!

You're obviously doing something incredibly right. Keep doing what you're doing and you will achieve your goal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
