I made a HUGE mistake and God Willing I will learn form it. Ate food 10 days Post-Op

Recommended Posts

All I can say is that I hope and pray I don't have a leak or that I did any damage to my new sleeve. how could i be so dumb. some people on here have reassured me and also scared me that i could die.

it's so scary. my own fault for not being prepared better. instead of stocking up again, i got so worried and prepared for this blizzard. long story short. i ate normal food. small portions but still. i hope i dont get sick or die.

Luckily i have no pains or cramps. no aches and no fevers. but how do i know for certain if i caused a leak in my staple line. ??

my doctors office isnt even open until monday.

i am so stupid.

I was released to eat reg food around that time...it's just up to your specific doc...what I'm saying is you should be fine. If I was given permission...& survived...you should too. Just be careful.

wow,

you posted for more days than this same things.

You are suposed to do whats on the paperwork not assume that you'll be alright,

the Blizzard is here yes but you should had shopped and bought things you needed long before the weather was this bad. You need a reality check, the future depends on your being responsable too and learning about food and the surgery is suposed to help you control obesseion,

sorry,

but I don't understand what your doing, I am doubting this will have such an effect that you'll die, you've driven yourself into an anxiety state.

Can we back off on the guy? He realizes he needs to stop. Everybody has scared him enough.

Please do not forget that some docs allow their patients to begin in eating real food very soon after surgery. Some are more cautious.

Also, we do not know what his situation was with regards to his ability for "preparation" so passing judgement on his commitment or lack of is again, over the top. And maybe I'm missing something but I did not get the impression that he was unable to control his "obsession".

Once again, somebody posts looking for support and they get attacked and/or scared to death.

I see, thats a very long liquid diet, perhaps if you gain better control and think it all through its just fine now, but I had more than enough pre surgery for 2 weeks post and still the storm had been in the news for 5 days 2 or 3 were they said it was a huge Blizzard.

Please don't feel it that I am being harsh toward you, I am concerned, I suggest just if you feel better responsable and respect the paperwork and you are responsable too you'll again feel in control. I am unsure to what length you really did that bad any way.

Good luck in the storm, you should be fine to shop in a couple of days.

Sounds like you will be fine. Stop beating yourself up. Keep some protien powder around. My doc lets you eat soft foods after 2 weeks.

You will be ok, if you are still worried call your doc as soon as possible and I'm sure he/she will reassure you that you are ok. :) my Dr put me on mushies after 1week, soft foods after 2 weeks and regular foods after 4 weeks. All drs are different so I cant say what's right or wrong, but know you are going to be fine!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
