Sugar Free Oatmeal

Recommended Posts

I love oatmeal and just started my soft mushy foods. I am 15 post op and I was able to eat 1/2 c cooked sugar free oatmeal. I only ate that much because I got scared and threw out the rest. Will this stretch my pouch? Should I nix the oatmeal?

I think that should be fine. But it is good to be cautious early on due to the fact that your stomach is still healing and it's hard, if not impossible, to get the full feeling that soon after surgery.

Thanks I was freakin out here.....Do you find that if you have something savory for Breakfast, you want something sweet for snack? Is snacking between meals something I should or not do? I'm really gonna kick up the cardio this week but only 2 weeks out, scared to rush it.

Hey there,

Your nutritionist should be guiding you here. You might want to pay attention to the carb count on oatmeal the oatmeal though. At 2 weeks I wouldn't necessarily worry about stretching the sleeve, but I would be concerned about putting pressure on the seam. Typically after the sleeve you would want to eat 5-6 small meals a day, so yes there is room for snacking. (healthy wise snacking that is). Not every Dr. or every nutritionist does it the same way, but my research has told me, that's pretty general.
