Thanks - I'm trying to get as many free samples as I can get before I decide. At this point I'm trying to pack for all the kids (three are going to different places, the other three are staying home but still need all their laundry done, meals planned, etc....) and get on the plane in one piece!!

oh, and get this - I've been on pureed foods (low fat) and only water/lemon or tea for at least a week now, and on clears only today, and I have gained a pound!! ugh. This is why I am doing this - the meds I have to take for other health issues unrelated to my weight cause weight gain. I will just keep getting bigger unless I take this action! Maybe I ate too MUCH Soup? I don't know. Didn't add milk or cream to any of it. I know a pound isn't a big deal but I keep reading that people have lost 10-20lbs prior to surgery. I hope to at least be at good old 200 by Monday. Discouraged!

Leo,

Don't be discouraged. Pound, schmound...you're just trying to prep for surgery...the weight will come off afterwards, don't worry.

Just a suggestion as I too really dislike Protein shakes. I have found ViSalus. I wouldn't sign up for their mail delivery service because you get sucked into a monthly delivery' date=' but you can purchase it on Amazon. It is more expensive than some, but.... it smells literally like cake mix. It was a cream flavor to it. You can add flavorings to it if your in the mood for a little chocolate. I mix it with plain Water but most people use some form of milk. Two scoops of powder has less than 100 calories, 7g carbs and 12g Protein. I typically add a small portion of banana (for thicker texture) and ice. A teaspoon of Peanut Butter is good with it too. I've even used a juicer to make "green juice" and mixed that with it to get some added veggie goodness :)[/quote']

Have you tried it with almond milk? I was just sleeved yesterday and i'll more than likely take the ViSalus shakes but am not sure if i can have it with Almond milk...

You can definitely mix it with Almond milk. I don't mind the Water, it keeps the calories low and still tastes great,

Now that I am on full liquids I mix mine with Almond Milk, unsweetened. It's extra Calcium and only 30 extra calories. It kicks the shake up a notch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
