I was sleeved last wednesday..9 days ago. The nurses asked about pain the same way.. I never said more than 3 and added not really pain but more strain or pressure from moving. Did use a pain pump in hospital ..mainly at night to sleep, but no meds once at home.

Some questions about post-op pain for the women:

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most painful, how severe was your pain? 1 or 2 ( not really pain just soreness)

Was this pain attributed to gas? Had gas pain for the first 24 hours but not too bad...very tolerable. I used GasX Strips and it helped a lot!

Was this your first surgery/abdominal surgery? Second surgery (1st was thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer)

Were you nervous/scared prior to surgery? I was extremely calm -- my husband was like, wow, I can't believe how calm you are. I was joking around and completely at peace. I was ready and absolutely sure this was the right thing to do.

Was your surgery performed in a hospital or Surgical center. Surgical Center

How many days were you in the hospital? 1.5

Was your surgery in the US? Yes

What type of support did you receive post-op at home? Husband was there but I really did not need any help. I told him to go to work. I was walking my dogs the next day. Almost like nothing happened except some soreness -- and that felt like the kind of soreness you get when you have a cold and cough a lot.

Thanks everyone in advance for your responses, your responses will help me tremendously. :)

My pain was on average a 4, I only took pain meds in the hospital then 2 days after I was home, after that I just felt like I did a ton of sit ups. No biggie. In pre-op I ask for my Post op meds...I dont like morphine I always ask for Diludid...its awesome! Not too heavy, no nausia, hallucinations...just right!

Gas pain was not a bad just had bubble guts, no biggie.

This was my 2 abdominal surgery, first was an incision for a hysterectomy, my VSG was laproscopic, they were very different. I recovered from both lickety split!

I was a nervous wreck but the pre op folks and my surgeon calmed me right down.

I had my procedure at Henry Ford Detroit in Michigan, they are a Top Notch Facility and highly recommend them. Dr Carlin was and IS amazing.

I was in the hospital 3 days 2 nights, released on the third day.

I had my aunt and mother with me for 1 week post op, I could have easily handled it on my own. I wanted to go back to work on week 2 but was forced by family to CHILL I went back to work (office job) after 2 weeks......

This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Wish I would have done it sooner. I love the SLEEVE lifestyle.....keyword LIFESTYLE...you need to make some changes, but it the changes you NEED to make. I dont feel deprived at all.

Good Luck! Keep in touch.

Some questions about post-op pain for the women:

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most painful' date=' how severe was your pain?

3 or so

Was this pain attributed to gas? Yes

Was this your first surgery/abdominal surgery? No. Having my gall bladder removed was worse

Were you nervous/scared prior to surgery?

Not really nervous about the procedure. Just nervous about adapting. I was really ready to get the show on the road.

Was your surgery performed in a hospital or Surgical center.

Hospital

How many days were you in the hospital?

2 but normally it would have been one. I was throwing up some so had to stay extra.

Was your surgery in the US?yes

What type of support did you receive post-op at home? Someone was here with me for the first few hours after I got home but nobody needed to stay overnight. I have small children and am a single mom and didn't have any trouble taking care of them or myself even in the early days post op. Worst thing for me was the anesthesia and pain meds hangover ( made me super emotional). I stopped taking the pain meds a couple of days after I got home.

Hi, I was sleeved on 21st January. My pain in the first few days ranged from a 4-8 but they had really good pain relief. The most pain came in the night.

A lot of my pain was caused by gass. I took a walk around my ward about every 2 hours and that help very much. That's the only thing I did for the gas pains.

This was my first surgery. I was nervous before I went to hospital but when I was there I had to wait a while so the nerves died down. When I was wheeled to the Pre op room I started to panic a little bit with the drip going in my hand. But the anesthesiologist was really good he talked to me and calmed me down. Then my surgeon came and talked to me as well as his assistant and the nurse, they all chatted to me and it made me feel really comfortable.

My surgery was in a hospital in Australia. I was in hospital for 4 days. My surgeon visited me everyday and the nurses were great. I had no liquids for the first day, then I had a leak test done and I was slowly alowd some liquids.

My support afterwards includes a 2 week follow up appointment with the nutritionist and the surgeon. A four week appointment with nutritionist, surgeon and physiotherapist. Then I think a three month follow up and a six month follow up. Not really sure after that.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
