no after care. [/b]

jamesapricejr

there is some sort of "pamphlet", booklet/ guide - with much necessary information post sleeve -

people have put the link on - and you can read it

i don't know how to do that (i'm so sorry) hopefully OP will know what i'm talking about and post the link

for now - couple of things

IMO you shouldn't be eating anything yet

you just had majory surgery, your new little tummy needs to re-cuperate

info from deltadown is great

drink Protein shakes, pureed, soft foods - examples from delta ablvoe

big instructions on Water you MUST follow once you are on solids

stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat

NEVER drink with your meals

do NOT drink for 45-60 minutes after your meal

drink, drink, drink all day

supposed to drink at least 64 oz of Water a day - do the best that you can

you need to drink all that water

eat slowly putting your utensil down in between each bite

chew thoroughly each bite - literally to "shreds"

eat very small portions

check with your insurance as suggested - speak with your family dr. - ask if he can help you with labs, if he's experienced with the WLS, if he can help you with questions

hopefully you can speak with a NUT (nutritionalist) that can guide you

find a support group

you could call your local hospital - they could help you out - even though you didn't have WLS through them, they hopefully will tell you of a "group"

good luck to you

come back here for basic questions, problems, whats going on

but i hope you are able to get some one on one help too

as you read this board - remember, the one thing in common we all have - is that we're different

don't compare yourself to others EVER. i.e. their weight loss, how quickly they lost weight any of that stuff - you are your own person - and you will travel on this "trip" through sleeveland your own way

congrats on your success

read alot, get good info here

good luck :)

I was shocked that NO One else posted something to help. Other than words of wisdom. Obviously the OP needs guide lines.

Well, hells bells.. I'm at work and don't have access to my packet of guidelines! Guess my "other than words of wisdom" will have to do for now :-P

I was sleeved in Mexico on 1/26 already down 30 pounds but I have no after care. My doctor didn't give me a a list of what I should or shouldn't be eating. I've been a little nervous but I think I've been pushing myself. I haven't been feeling bad though. Im on a last minute vacation for a couple days so i haven't been able to eat the Soups i already have at home. yesterday I had Soup from a Chinese place like egg drop but had corn and peas in it. I try to chew it up very well. Today I had some scrambled eggs with diced veggies and potatoes again I chewed it up very well. I haven't been sick except when I drink premade Protein shakes. I also had a glass of wine yesterday. Am I hurting my sleeve? Help what should I do/ be eating?

I have a copy of a post op diet that is very strict and detailed... I can email it to you if you like... That's what I will follow.

Sleeved in MX by Dr Alvarez. I was given a booklet of step by step like deltadawn posted. After care had been arranged prior to surgery with my family doctor.

GoodE2shoes and I were sleeved on the same day by the same surgeon. How irresponsible to send a patient home with no instruction. If you can get ebooks, pick up The Gastric Sleeve by Dr Alvarez. There is a world of info in that book as well as step by step what to eat, what to take, what to do have successes.

a quick google search will net you lots of "packets" - I have compared mine to several on the internet myself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
