The pain sucks... I'm on day 3 and I thought I will be fine right now. Here's what I'm experiencing the md discharge me with Vicodin liquid, some acid reflux pills and nausea pills... I'm in so much pain. It's hard for me to take any Water but I'm trying and Protein Shakes since I'm not hungry and there's pain when I do swallow so I'm scared . I'm walking as much as I can but my sutures hurt. I haven't sleep much because laying down, side and propped up isn't helping with the pain... Does anybody have any advise on how to handle all of this and when will the pain go away! :(

Are you taking Gas X? You may have some gas built up causing some of the pain your experiencing. Walking will help, along with the gas x. Hope this will help alleviate some of the pain your experiencing. Hope you feel better soon.

The gas was what caused 95% of my pain! It was miserable and took me about a week to get over it. In my case Gas X didn't help, because the gas wasn't in my digestive system. It was the C02 gas from surgery.

Hang in there. It will get better!

It gets better. Walking is important. The gas will eventually go away. Make sure you do everything you can possibly do to get your fluids in. Dehydration is the worst thing you could have happen right now. Even if you have to ease up the Proteins for just a bit, still get the fluids in. I get ya on the pains when trying to sleep. I hat to hit the hydrocodone hard the first couple of nights because of rolling over on the staples. It's a lot of annoyances early on, but it isn't anything that you can't get through. Just gotta plow! :)

I'm sorry your in pain. I didn't have gas pains until the car ride home it was from the bumps in the road, it just stirred it up I guess. Gas-X helped it went away fast. I couldn't take the liquid pain meds so I just got through the pain without anything. It hurt! Walking was when it really hurt the most. I would shake it hurt so much. After a week it was more tolerable, but it took 2 weeks before I could just go out walking and I had to because it was 10 days before Christmas and I needed to do my shopping. Hang in there it goes by fast I'm at 10 weeks now and it's great!!

That's what I was saying yesterday as well. But like others said it will pass... Stay positive my friend. We can do this. I wish I was on IV right now but I have to get my stomach used to it. We can do it... :)

Mozzy, I think we were sleeved the same day bc Im having the same pain as you. Even the smallest sip of water.. I feel it go down my throat and as soon as it hits my stomach I cramp. I'm on the anti-spasm meds so I don't know why I'm hurting like this. I was supposed to be discharged today but they figured if I can't drink, ill end up right back in the er for dehydration. I'm trying much harder tonight and Im having better luck getting apple juice down

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
