Leaning toward a sleeve

Recommended Posts

I just had the sleeve done...waking up in recovery was the worst unbearable painful feeling in the world...I woke up screaming & vomiting sorry.... Today is day 5 & I'm still suffering so much.. This is the pain that nobody talks about.. Being uncomfortable no matter what I do.. I can't stand up for to long i cant lay on my back only on my side which is so annoying.. I toss & turn about 10times within the hour..& Everytime I finally fall asleep Im awoke by nightmares... I been having headaches everyday backaches & a whole lot of bloating... I try my best to walk around as much as i can..im trying to keep myself hydrated by drinking 3-4 ounces of liquid every couple of hours.. in the beginning it took me about 1hour just to finish 1 ounce of liquid...how can something so small be so hard to swallow... I honestly can't recommend the sleeve to you rite now because I'm still fresh out of surgery but I had to share these feelings that no one else does... Good luck to you hope your experience is not as bad...

This is how I felt waking up ppl should kno it's not all peaches and cream but I'm 3 weeks out and I can tell you it gets better day by day and that the truth you hear it's so much it don't sound true but it do ..the emotional part is hard to but to the Op you'll do great have your heart set on the goal and all this will be worth it

Wow. I'm preop and that's pretty scarey. I have a low tolerance for pain. Thanks for sharing.

It has nothing to pain tolerance. Some of the toughest people here have had a really bad time with pain and just the opposite with some wussy.. They have had no pain at all. The gas the inflate you with has a lot to do with it. Everyone reacts differently..almost the luck of the draw.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
