BuffaloCarol 6 Posted February 8, 2013 As of January 14, I had all paperwork in place, pre-op scheduled, medical clearance scheduled and a sleeve date of 2/25. That all changed when my husband was laid off of his job on January 14. Now we have to pay out of pocket for Cobra to the tune of $1779.00 per month. We will need at least 2 months to pay for that. Then, the first 90 days after surgery are free. I have high colesterol, high blood pressure, on heart medication, and have sleep apnea. I physicially need this surgery to make my self healthy for my husband and two boys ages 16 and 10, I am 47 with a bmi of 39. I feel so bad taking the money away from the household to pay for the surgery, but we need coverage and even though we applied for a NYS health care plan, it won't kick in until May or June 1, 2013. Now, I just feel down on myself and want to eat everything in sight. I have had my initial weigh in, a weigh in with a nurse practioner, and am supposed to have my final weigh in on the 19 of February. What do they expect at that one? More weight loss, or steady weight. I had a hard time between my second weigh in and now, Thanksgiving, Christmas and now Valentines Day. I don't have much self control, especially now. How much out of pocket did any of you pay to have your surgery doone? Was it worth it. I know it will be worth it in the end, I have even purchased my Protein shakes. I think that I have only gained 3 pounds since my last weigh in, I will go back to south beach phase 1 to get going again. I did borrow three excercise videros from the library, and I will start those today. I hope some of you can help me work through this. I have been a lurker on this board and have found excellent information. Thaniks for listening. BuffaloCarol
