Recommended Posts

I changed my mind. I can't handle another summer obese' date=' I just can't. 6 months is too long to wait and jump through hoops and continue my life this way

So.... Drumroll please!?

I just paid my deposit and booked my flight. I leave march first and am scheduled for march 2nd with dr. Garcia at MiDoctor. I couldn't be more excited!!

But I'm also nervous and freaking out, you know? Did I make the right choice?! Am I crazy?! Will I get trampled like a field mouse in a stampede @ the airports, etc. (first flight, ever)

Phew.

So that's me. Anyone else going march 2nd?

Ahhhh...I'm so happy for you!

It's so good to have you back' date=' amytug! For flying, just be sure to bring something to read...or if you have an electronic device, load up a movie or two to watch on the flight. Definitely bring something that plays music and earphones...to calm you and also in case you have lots of kids sitting nearby. I always travel with one of those blow-up pillows. I put only a small amount of air in it and place it behind my lower back because airplane seats have no lumbar support at all. I'll be flying from Charlotte NC to San Diego, with a layover in Dallas.

Layovers are boring, but it's a great opportunity to walk around and people-watch. Since we'll be on Clear liquids while flying, I'll be well stocked with crystal light. I, too, was planning on using the injury chicken Soup... but yesterday I tried some for the first time and had an allergic reaction! Will try again today, and hope that it doesn't happen because that stuff is great and I had planned it as my "go to" Protein after surgery

Advice to all: be sure to sample all the drinks and Proteins before you leave for surgery....because having an severe allergic reaction shortly after surgery would really, really suck!![/quote']

Well I guess its good you found out about the allergy ahead of time!

The mobile itinerary just means they don't send out paper tickets. You can if you'd like use your phone for the boarding pass but I tend to just print my ticket at the airport. Likely' date=' when you get to the airport you will see kiosks to check in. You use a credit card as identification to pull up your flight info then the kiosk will print your ticket. If you are checking luggage you will move to a different line for that. Very simple and there are always folks ready to assist.

Security: All liquids must be in a 3 oz container or less and placed in a zippy bag. The bag must be taken out of your carry on and placed in a bin through TSA. No need to pull out kindles or iPads, but if you bring a laptop that has to go in a separate bin. Plan on removing your shoes too. If I sound like a recording it's because I fly several times a month!

Personally, I love airports. Dallas is great as terminal D is really lovely. There's beautiful mosaic tile emblems on the floor that most people ignore and neat artistic features. The other terminals are pretty boring. People watching is the best.

Not all planes have power ports at the seats but most do. However you will need to put your phone in airplane mode during the flight (fully off for takeoff and landing). Airplane mode will use less power. And there are tons of places to plug in at the airport.

Pack less than you think you need.[/quote']

First time flyer question. I'm allowed a carry-on and a tote type bag. Can I have zippy bags of liquids in each? I usually have trouble packing light but am trying to do so for TJ but am having some trouble and confusion about liquids.

I can only take up to 3oz per person not per bag. If u have more than that you'll have to check in the bag.

Each person is limited to what can fit in a single quart size ziploc bag. You can have multiple containers of liquids, limited to 3 oz each, but they all have to fit in a single quart ziploc bag. If you are checking luggage, there's no limits on the liquids you can pack. The liquid limitations are for carry-on luggage/bags.

The hotel has Shampoo, conditioner and lotion. You really don't need makeup ( or minimal). You really, honestly need less than you think.

What does injury chicken Soup mean? I will be heading to Mexico March 6 with Dr. Ponce Deleon. Another question: do planes have wifi? I have Netflix loaded on my iPad and was wondering if I would be able to watch a movie.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
