My pain was totally gone by the 3rd week. I'm talking from the larger incision it felt like it was sewn up to tight but yeah right at 3weeks for me

Hope you feel better and congrats on your sleeve

Each person's recovery rate is different, you need to discuss what you are feeling with your doctor and then monitor yourself for changes. You know yourself better than anybody. It is better to alert your Dr. to something that turns out to be normal healing process, rather than not say anything and have it actually be something serious.

To answer the question, between 6 & 8 weeks the pain seemed to just fade away, I never had an aha moment.

Wish you all the best!

3+ weeks out and still unable to put my socks on easily, never mind tying my shoes. For me it's the spot of the largest incision.

I'm 3 weeks out and it still hurts to bend to pick something up and I have that same sort of tight/pulled muscle feeling. Even with laparoscopic VSG, the surgeon cuts your muscle so it's still healing at this point. My PA said I'll feel MUCH better at 6 weeks--I'll look back and wonder how I thought I felt "normal" at 2 or 3 weeks, she said. I notice I feel the achiness also if I sleep too long in one spot or if I overdo it with walking or lifting. I think it's totally normal! But I would just mention at your next post-op appt or call before that if it is bothering you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
