Ok... I have tried pureed/ softfoods....and it gets stuck. I chew 20 plus times...its not making a difference. The pressure in my chest causes me to vomit. Everything I eat isn't appetizing and causes discomfort. I am just so tired and frustrated...I have no interest in eating. I don't want to drink Protein shakes and Soup broth forever. I used to love food....now I don't want to see it. Nxt Tuesday ill be 4 weeks out . I sure hope it gets better. ...needless to say after losing 30 lbs post surgery. ..I hit a stall to top it off.

I'm sorry this is happening to you maybe try smaller bites that might help ..hope u feel better

I almost 9 weeks out and I still sometimes get that stuck feeling and get sick! Have to take small bites. Ordered 2 eggs scrambled , only ate about 1 and a half. Got the stuck feeling but kept it down. Don't seem to have a problem with egg beaters though home but many times eggs.

Did u have a hiatal hernia repair?

This is an interesting question. I did. I also have had and still at 4.5 months have some food sticking issues. But I've never thrown up. I did do more liquids for quite a bit longer than required and drank shakes longer out than many do. It eventually resolved for the most part, but I still occasionally have issues where air gets trapped or something sticks and I can't eat much of anything.

I had the worst time after the hernia repair. Still to this day, after 9 months i still have problems.

Your still healing from having 85% of your stomach cut off... This is not permanent but it does take a lil while to heal. Just be kind to your body while it recovers. It's not forever, promise.

Wise words. Would you remind me of them in about a months time please? :)

The first time I had reflux' date=' I thought I was having a heart attack because the pressure and squeezing was so intense- I spent the night in intensive care and left with a perfect heart, a prescription for Protonix, and a bill I am still paying off..[/quote']

Omg !!

Wasn't that a scary experience!!!??

I was having the same issue with acid reflux but without a sleeve. I actually had gallstone that traveled to my pancreas that lead to pancreatitis . There was also a stones stuck in the bile duck and stones on the way to my kidneys !!!! So painful I would ask God what have I done in my life to deserve this. I had heart burn for 1 entire year until my body couldn't take it went to the ER

Could be a structure.

I'm 13 weeks out and still have problems with some food. Didn't know that my gall bladder was filled with stones and not bile, or I even had a hiatal hernia. I had been taking meds for reflux and had a gall bladder attack in 2005 but then was fine. The doctor was going to use a mesh but he was afraid of infection. I feel so much better, so I must have been a mess before and didn't really realize it. Good luck with your food. I sometimes eat too fast...It gets stuck, I slime and then get sick. Yuck!!! It's better though!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
