Has anyone felt embarrassed about the fact that they had this done? I feel like people will view me as a failure for not being able to lose the weight on my own, the "normal" way as opposed to the "easy" way!

I honestly don't plan on saying much even tho I know the weight loss will be significant in a short amount of time. I will say I had surgery and that is what is attributed to the weight loss but do not want to confirm weight loss surgery.

Anyone out there feel the same? Please don't judge me! I'm just being honest and possibly saying what many are afraid to!

If so how did you deal?

Also for the record, I did try the "normal" way!

Gyms, diets, nutritionist, special pre packaged foods. Etc etc etc.

just got tired of the up and down.

I think we all tried "the normal way" that's how we all got here. Personally I've told anyone who would listen, I don't care who knows or what they think about it. All that mattered is how I feel about it! But that is a personal decision each of us has to make and I don't feel there is any right or wrong here. Just do whatever you feel is best for you! :-)

All I can say is let them walk a mile in "our" shoes, the journey of many failed diets, working out each day, making new choices for a healthy lifestyle, many while battling emotional issues and scars....it's no roses and sunshine walk (at least not for me and many others) it :angers: me when people say the "easy" way....

Never judge unless you've walked a mile in their shoes.

i kept it a secret. i told my close friends & family but didn't tell anyone at work. told my boss i was having some health issues and needed 2 weeks off. i then came up with the excuse that i had a hernia repaired (technically i did!) in case anyone asked (they haven't!).

No judgement here..... I feel you... I told very few people before surgery. However, afterwards I did not care what people thought. Anyone who asks I tell them the truth. Usually they have questions which I answer. Because after that fact their opinions really don't matter.... Best Wishes with the surgery and your decision

I'm with you. The only people I have told is my husband and two close friends/pseudo mothers at work. My boss will be supportive, but she's not going to know until after or the very last minute because she'll just worry. Family will be told after the fact. It's my choice and I don't need anyone trying to convince me to not do it.

Thank you all for all your thoughts! It's truly appreciated and you are ALL right!! Bottom line it's MY decision and I should never have anyone make me feel bad about it. It's all about how I feel and the approach I want to take. There's no right or wrong answer!! I'm soooo excited and eager for this new chapter and am so glad I joined this forum. It helps to talk to people who have "walked in my shoes"!! :))
