Do you feel "impacted" sorry to get gross but do feel like you have to go but can't

Yes yes! I'm full. And it hurts so much. It feels like there is a plug in there(sorry for being gross too)

That's ok! Been there done that! If its that bad you will have to have it removed "manually" don't ask how I know but I know!

Sorry to say it will involve a glove and a finger :(

At the doctors. If its not that bad you can try an enema... But .....

A Last Resort If all else fails, you may need to manually break up the stool. This is usually done by a doctor, because it is easy to injure your rectal wall. Gently insert a gloved and lubricated finger into your rectum. Without exerting too much pressure, attempt to mash or break up the stool into smaller pieces. If you experience any pain, stop immediately and consult your physician.

There is also magnesium citrate that you can buy at the pharmacy but it sounds like you may be beyond that..

[edit] do not try this at home call your physician !!

If you feel plugged and the stool is hurting your bottom a glycerine suppository will give some lubrication for the stool to pass. Fleets mineral oil enemas are good as well for lubrication for the stool as well.

What brand did you use? I would also recomend Fiberwell gummies - I take 3 a day and stopped the Miralax. There is some interesting talk online about how Miralax negatively affects kidneys. I haven't seen any scientific research' date=' so it may all be conjecture. At any rate, I preferred the Fiber remedy versus the drug remedy.[/quote']

Your sleeve probably cannot handle Fiber yet unfortunately. The suppository I sometimes use is called Ducolax. Works well in about 20 min. After plug is gone, then miralax works well to keep unplugged.

If you can do an enema and hold it if for a few minutes that might help.' date=', sorry :([/quote']

I'm glad your feeling better! And we have all been through it.

I suspect it's something we will always Have to deal with. I recommend as the others have, daily doses of fiber in the form of miralax, chia seeds etc...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
