December Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Banded Dec 18th 2006, had a pre op diet ( YUck all those nasty shakes I tried). Working towards my Post op 2 week diet. YAY all is well, except for my stiches are dissolving too soon and my incisions are opening, they told me to wash them with peroxide 3x a day and only put a little piece of gauze over it to stop things from falling in it, aka, dust and dirt if i'm out side... Did this happen to any one else?

But other than that all is well and i'm progressing well.

hey nera hit me up at deathkillforget8 alright luv u punk

Well, I finally got my act together and with the help of my bodybugg I was able to lose 7 lbs this week. It took me 3 months to realize the weight doesn't just fall off, I have to do my part too. I always knew it of course, but I didn't get motivated until I got my toy. So far, it's totally worth the price.

Now I have to decide if I really need my fill next week. I'm thinking I'll just cancel and continue doing what I'm doing. Then, I'll get a fill when I slow down or stop losing.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. It's Spring Break for me. Whee!

I have to be honest, I was eating like crap before. I wasn't motivated to eat well.

So, once I got my bodybugg I decided to splurge a little on Saturday, then be really good all week. Of course, I slipped up a couple of times. However, with the bodybugg I log all the calories I eat then upload the data from the armband to see how many calories I burned that day. As long as I had a deficit of at least 1000 calories, I knew I was ok. Many days I had a deficit of up to 2000 calories.

Seeing how many calories I burn a day seemed to really help for some reason. It motivated me to walk a bit more, put the piece of chocolate down, etc.

Because I'm a BIG girl, I'm able to burn more calories just to keep my body alive. On the days I didn't exercise, I burned 3550 calories and ate anywhere from 1200-2000 calories a day.

So far, the bugg is definitely worth it to me. I hated spending all that money after spending on surgery of course. But I've always had trouble with my exercise/moving my body and this seems to motivate me. I only worked out 3 times this week, but I found myself walking more at work in order to burn calories.

The other downside is everyone constantly asking what's on my arm, but I've gotten used to it. The funniest was when a co-worker thought it had something to do with my heart and was really worried about me! I had to explain what it was so he wouldn't freak out. :)

So comforting to know that other people are struggling with their weight loss even with this band. You still have to exercise and watch what you eat but this tool has helped me to lose 35 pounds so far since my suregery date of 12/13/07. Keep up the hard work bandsters!

Are the December bansters posting here, or December bandsters in April.

I am struggling along, but I hope that this plateau is temporary.

Hello everyone, i'm at 33 lbs. - would like to be around 40 but I've been on 3 trips between march and april (a cruise, the hill country, and chicago) so I'm okay with 33 plus I had an awful chest cold so I didn't work out for a couple of weeks. Okay, enough excuses... one more trip to boston in a few weeks and then i really won't have anything else to blame the slower weight loss on. I plan on being very active this summer because I want to be over 50 when school starts back in August. Everyone seems to be about the same as me or better so i feel okay - i think we're all doing great!

Maybe we should just revive the general December bandsters thread? The monthly threads aren't generating much traffic and I think we're losing people as each new thread is posted.

Just my opinion. I'll follow wherever we are. :)

So that would be this thread? Are you just saying keep this thread going?

I am with you. I will go where ever the rest of the Dec. bansters are.

Can someone tell me how much I am supposed to eat? I can eat a lean cuisine. I am not losing anything. I don't know if I need a fill. A lean cuisine fills me up. Am I supposed to be getting full on just a few bites? I need help!! Someone? Anyone?

I wish I could hep. I'm struggling with it, too. I don't think I'm at the "sweet spot" but I know I get full on smaller amounts. However, I still eat all the crap so I'm working on head issues.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
