December Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

Back from my stinkin' midterm. Phew....

I am still compiling the surgery list so if you want in, please continue to send me PM's (not to be confused with PMS since I need no help in the chocolate/saltcraving department). I will continue to gather info and post it later this evening. As it stands, I have 20 people on the list. Wow!

Sx date, screenname, place, weight at time of sx

Maybe then we can expand the list to follow weekly or monthly loss. We'll see.

I had a good committed day today. I am sucking down my liquids..adding horrific Protein powder to my crystal lights (not too tasty, but it won't be forever). I was on the elliptical beast for over an hour today. Unfortunately now my upper back is sore thanks to the arm movements. I do love my gym though.

One week until my post op visit. I am so excited! I really am looking forward to the mushy stage.

Continue to kick @ss fellow bandsters!

Hey Kay - I was banded on the 19th in College Station, TX - 235 day of surgery.

starting to feel hungry for the first time today. I have been able to eat whatever I want since a few days after surgery but have kept it pretty mushy and have done great. Today is the first day I've wanted to snack... Saw the dr. on tues. and they scheduled my first fill for the 16th of Jan but said if i start feeling hungry before then to call and they can try and get me in. I think I may call monday! Glad to hear I'm not alone!

Yes- I was a total grouch for a few days. I was also banded on the 27th and today is the first day I have started to feel more normal and less tired.

Hi!

I'm new to the "forum" thing...I'm thankful to find people going through the same thing I am. There haven't been many problems in the past 7 days.

Stitches still hurt a little, tummy still seems huge...BUT the dealing with not being able to eat! I read where other doctors let you eat yogurt and (small helpings) of ice cream during the first two weeks. Not mine! How do you get through the first 2 weeks just eating Jello and clear broth? My husband has been so understanding but I feel like a bitch and tell him I'm sorry.

:help:

Reading about the people who had their surgery earlier in month... did they ever feel the way I do now? I'm usually a very happy/positive person...

Mary

Whew! You miss a couple days and MAN there's a lot to read! Good stuff though. A lot of times I'd get ready to reply, read further and someone had posted what I wanted to say.

My GF was eating a salad over the phone yesterday and I can't get a big crisp salad out of my head today.

For the past three days since starting back to work I get this horrendous back pain and stomach pain around mid-day. It's all muscules, but it was dreadful. This morning I woke up and put on a girdle-type undergarment that comes up under my bra and that was the ticket! My muscles were just tired of carting "me" around and needed some support. Now if I could just stop having to sleep on my back so my neck wouldn't be stiff each day! Oh- I am down 15 pounds!!! What a great feeling to have lost over the holidays this year.

Thanks to those who posted the links to "food" sites. I spent a small fortune yesterday, but I will soon have more variety of the liquid Proteins. My only "cheat" this week was blending up Tomato Soup with kindey Beans and soy milk to thin it out. I'm supposed to be all clears & Protein still, but the shakes are killing me! It's gone down fine and finally I have some Fiber to add some bulk in the bowels. (better!)

***How's that for honesty!

Cheers to all from another Pacific NW girl drowning in Seattle.

LuckyGirl...I'm with ya on the needing a fill already!! Today all afternoon I was STARVING!!! I had a 'date' tonight for dinner and couldn't believe that I ate a few bites of crab dip, my Trout and some green beans!! UGH!! At least I ate my protein/veggies first...oh yeah, and I had a bite of his ice cream sundae! I felt like such a pig even though I know it REALLY wasn't that much food, it felt like it! I'm getting my fill next week thank goodness!! I will only be 4 weeks out but I'm glad I don't have to wait til 6 like most people!

skinnymom- I had to start work on Tuesday. i teach middle school and while I couldhave used another couple of days, I HAD to be there. The day after surgery i felt great. I walked for 45 minutes, drank what i should,... It went downhill from there. That's when the pain and muscle soreness really kicked in. I think I also started trying to do things again too quickly. At least pre-work I could nap and sit. Going back was really hard and I still can't bend over to get things. I couldn't even put on lace-up shoes until yesterday, and even that was amusing.

As for eating, I did 10 days of liquids pre and should do 4 weeks of the same post. Today i added a bit of peanut buter (eaten slowly off a spoon) and a thicker Soup because the shakes are just not appealing. I'm a hot-food junkie anyway. I need to schedule my 2-week appt. tomorrow, but I think I am healing just fine all around. it's tough going, but it does get easier every day and i keep thinking about how great it will feel in a month. I started at 317 ten days out and have lost 15 as of 2 days ago.

I keep wondering how many calories people are eating because I am at about 600 and keep trying to get up to 8-900. (Hence the peanut butter.) I'm also wondering when some of you felt good enough to resume sex again. (Care to share???)

Wow!

Hi Kay,

I was banded 12/26/06, NYC, NY at 253 pre-op.

I am not that often online and it's so hard to keep up. Every time I check this post I have to read 3-4 pages to catch up. The good thing is that everyone seems to be doing great overall which is so encouraging.

I'm over the 1st week, I have one more to go until the 8th of liquid and then 2 weeks into mushies. My first fill is on the 31st and I start to look so forward to it. So far I have been ok in terms of starving but I'm affraid what will happen after the mushies and before the fill. I put too much effort, both mentally and physically to this, as I'm sure everyone else in here and I don't want to screw it up.

Hey siyah!

Federal Way? I was born and raised in West Seattle now living in Georgia. I can't imagine going back to work with children, under your circumstances! Take it easy! (I worked for the Kent School District for 5 yrs) It's nice to feel stronger every day. I can tell I'm getting back to normal...just taking sooooo long.

5 more days of broth and Jello....YUM! NOT!!! :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
