bramptonian 9 Posted February 6, 2013 Well I am still a little shocked that I flew to Mexico by myself and had the surgery done. I have never been out of Canada before so that alone was terrifying. But I did it. I had my surgery done with Dr. Joya, he was awesome!! I had minimal pain when I woke up and I was up walking around within a couple oh hours. The staff was great, although English was a bit of a challenge for some of them. The hotel was gorgeous and the staff was awesome. I would really recommend using Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. What a nice place to recover. I get to start on pureed food on Monday, can't wait Has anyone else gone to Dr. Joya?? Any other Canadians on here??

scsleever 104 Posted February 7, 2013 It is so great to hear from those of you who are weeks or months past your surgery in Mexico. I know that once surgery is done, your interests and concerns are about post-op issues, so some of the other forums are more informative for you. But I really feel that those of us who go to Mexico have a special bond... so it's nice to hear from the "veterans"!
bramptonian 9 Posted February 7, 2013 Hi all. It's going ok, I have decided to start my pureed diet a few days early. According to the plan I was given by the Doctor I should start 3 weeks after surgery....well one of the papers said that I also have one from the Doctor that says start pureed foods 2 weeks after surgery. I find that I am getting alot of headaches, I spoke to my Doctor about this and she told me that I am probably not getting enough Protein in my system (I really can't stand the protein shakes) so I will start with one pureed meal a day and continue with the broth, yogurt etc and see how that goes. I do find that I am hungry, which kind of concerns me but at the same time I think it's ok because I can't eat a whole lot anyway. Has anyone else gotten the feeling of hunger ?? I have lost 30 lbs so far and I am excited to see what the future holds for me. We should have a one year anniversary party in Mexico to Celebrate all our hard work !!
