Breast meat is drier than thigh or leg meat and that might be the problem, do you eat it with a sauce?

hey dude

congrats on your success

109 lbs gone forever, and ever :)

wonderful, wonderful, and pretty darn good ;) !!!

many people say they have a problem with eating this or that, i guess chicken and lettuce don't work for you :(

funny, i never had any problem before WLS eating this or that - for example - Cookies, lemon bars, cakes, chips & dips - lasagna, fried chicken...............

oooops, sorry i think i passed out for a minute remembering the good 'ol days

seriously now (who me ;) ) my sleeve is content eating any foods - but hasn't seen the above foods for over a year :(

take care guy

keep up the great job :)

continued good luck

congratulations :)

I can't eat it either - too dry. I'm usually alright if its mixed like chicken salad with something to ease the dryness.

I totally get it!

Yesterday in one of my post-op classes the nutritionist spoke about lettuce (salad) creating a 'birds nest' at the opening to your stomach. She recommended that if you have an issue with salad, lettuce - to cut it up really small and chew chew chew. I don't have a problem with salad.< /p>

As far as the chicken - I eat my chicken with a dipping sauce that I make with Greek yogurt and spices. It keeps the chicken moist and easier to eat.

Good luck! and Great job!!

Mmm, today I had chicken schwarma, and dipped the yummy slivers in hummus. First time I ate too much since surgery! Man, it took hours to stop feeling miserable. I had been really craving something different this last month.

I eat chicken several times a week! I boil a chicken then shred it of the bones and use it in various dishes. Boiling it makes the breasts really moist...

Awesome' date=' after you boil it let it sit for a few minutes before shredding it. It will "seal" in the moisture.

Good luck,

Laura :)

[Edit'] a serving for me is 2oz or 1/4 cup and I would never try to eat More than that because it keeps you full for hours try maybe even less than 2oz

chicken is also still hard for me. I prefer fish and ground meat now days. It is just easier for me to chew to a pulp and stomach easier.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
