1- What daily diet recommendations did your NUT give you? I have noticed that all NUT's recommend different things, I am just curious what the middle ground is.

2- Have you ever had bad achy pain in your sleeve area, left side? It's going around in my back, up under my ribs. Hurts like HECK!!

(Background...51 weeks post op, 178lbs lost. No post op problems at all.I AM however, sick with bronchitis, but this is localized pain) TIA!

your #2 question makes me think you might be having some gall bladder symptoms because of where you're describing the pain (right side, under ribs, radiating to the back) It's almost text book of what the top symptoms are for gall bladder attack. Might want to ask the doc before it sucker punches you!

Hope you feel better SOON!

And congrats on your absolutely awesome success :)

:( bronchitis sux! Did the pain start along side the bronchitis? I ask because once when I had it, I actually cracked a rib from coughing so hard!

Otherwise, I dunno what it could be --- lol especially since you don't HAVE a gall bladder!

I have been coughing really hard. Actually, the pain started while eating dinner tonight. I had bbq chicken, and once I started to hurt, I stopped eating. It is a dull achy throb.

You should call your doctor... Those symptoms could be pneumonia (sp?)

I had it and it felt like that and kinda tight achey as well

Definitely get a chest X-ray

It is possible. My 7y/o has walking pneumonia. :( It just seems more like sleeve pain.

Pnemonia hurts horribly and in places you wouldnt think it would hurt. I had it a few years ago. I'd get a chest xray for sure like lessofmeismore said. I hope you feel better soon

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
