A thread for Single Bandsters

Well...I'm around, but I'm afraid nothing much is happening on the dating front for me. I did sign up for E-Harmony and it sucks ass. There were like 4 matches when I first signed up and now none. Apparently there are NO matches for me in the entire state of Utah. My friend from Pittsburgh keeps trying to get me to post of Cragislist, but last time I checked it there was some guy who wanted to donate his "baby juice" and I can't handle that. :)

There is this guy from high school that I got reacquainted with at my 10 year reunion in the summer. But he's SO not my type...but I think he's interested. Maybe I'll hang out with him just to practice dating. I'm starting to see the benefits of an arragned marriage.

Jessica,

Supergenius suggested that I sign up on PlentyofFish.com, and I've met 1 guys on there that I might meet. I have also met someone on BBWdatefinder.com who is the guy I'm really liking in Dallas. I can't wait to meet him! Wow is he good looking! Anyway, I thought you might want to check out those 2 sites. PlentyofFish is free and the BBWdatefinder is $50. Good luck girl!

Jack,

I think that would be a great idea. It's to bad there isn't a website for bandsters who want to meet other bandsters. If I had the smarts, I might just start one! Even though I'm not banded yet, I am still going to hang out here with my friends.

I have met another guy ya'll. This one live in on lake Grapevine for those of you in the Dallas area. He's 4 years younger than me, but what the hey. We might hit it off. I'm still really into the guy in Dallas though and I think I could fall in love with him. Umm Umm Umm!

Kristi,

I don't mind being called woots at all. Wootsie is my nickname that I've lived with all my life. My entire family calls me that, so I don't have a problem with it at all. You are such a bad girl! I probably would have thought something like that myself though. My Dallas guy asked me if I wanted to melt in his hands. Probably a regular pick up line, but who cares! I told him absolutely, I think I could melt in your hands. lol

Joan, I love callin you woots, too, thoughLOL--I hope you and this guy hit it off! And living close to your daughter does make for nice weekends, seeing the family and possibly the man. Good Luck. I am glad to hear you are feeling better.

Kristi

Hell Kristi,

If I can get this man, I may stay in Sherman for the rest of my life! Whoo-Hoo! He's just hot hot hot is all I can say! LOL

Chrispy,

It is soooooooooooo fun, and these guys have seen my pics already. How cool is that? I told the guy in Dallas that I was going to have Lapband surgery, and he was all for it. Now he's wanting to know when I'm having it. Unfortunately, I had to tell him it would be a year, so he is encouraging me to try and lose weight on my own, which I think is really sweet. I don't think he really cares about my weight, just that I get healthy again. Did I tell you guys that he was hot? lol My niece told me it was because I like him, but I don't think that's all of it. This is going to sound very shallow, which I'm not, but he drives a Nissan 300ZX convertible, he has a nice house, and he has a 73" TV. lol I know guys, that's not what's important, but it's really nice to go along with the guy. We will just have to see how it goes! And, I can't believe it's me this is happening to! Whoo-Hoo!

Okay, I joined plentyoffish, its good cause it is free. I met one guy from there last night. Blah, he didn't look like his picture very much. So after about 30 minutes of whtever, I went to my brothers house. We had met at a casino, but didn't stay together for very long. Ha Ha When he called me on the phone, (hes from Virginia) he sounded like forrest gump, so that was a no go, and then he wasn't QUITE what I had expected, so another one bites the dust. You know, I think I am going to put bad and good pics of me on my profiles, so that people will see everything, I think this guy was posing, and it made him look better than he really was. So back to the drawing board. Goodness I hate dating. I wish I could just meet someone and get hitched, and be happy. I guess that would be boring though.

Kristi, I'm sorry it didn't turn out to be a love connection, but there are plenty of fish out there like the name of the website says. You will eventually meet Mr Right. My Dallas guy is on that site to and his name is Classic Ride. Please go to the site and look him up so you can tell me what you think. In fact, everyone can go look at his pics and tell me what you think about him. I would love everyone's input.

Missy, I will be in Sherman after midnight on the 5th. My daughter is driving here Monday and then we are driving back after a few hours here. Her choice, but I know she's gonna be tired. I'm really hoping we can get together while I'm there. I would have loved to have attended the Denton meeting, but I had doctors appointments here on Friday, so I just couldn't get there for it.

I've also met another guy online who wants to meet me Wed of Thur of this coming week. His name is Steve and the other guys name is Daniel. Daniel is better looking, but it depends on the person, so I think I will meet them both. LOL

I got out of dating period--until I fix me. I have people who know me--asking..."Why don't you want a Woman? I say--I have goals in mind and I don't want distractions. I had a previous wife who once threatened to divorce me if I get the surgery....I was like--"so you want me fat and sick??? She says--"She married me because she wanted a BIG MAN....Eventually--I made it to court in August 05 to get a divorce. Of course-she never showed up. Some people I have come to know in my new area--I am a formerly of the "Katrina Storm area"....Some have thought that I am getting a useless surgery, a few said--if you lose 107 pounds--you will look like a "Crack head" and the biggie--"Aren't you going to miss the Barbeque ribs and chicken? ??

So instead of dating--I am going to date my goal close with the quickness. March 28th--the surgery takes place. From that date on--I am committed to the cause of losing to get heathier...LL

Lee, I think you are making a wise decision in focusing your attention on yourself and your personal goals before getting involved in a relationship. I am taking the same apporach and have learned that being alone does not translate to being lonely. My plan is to get me where I want me to be; a place where I am happy inside and out. Once that occurs, I'll be able to share that me with someone else and be a true partner in a meaningful relationship. Good luck with the surgery.

Lee and Elizabeth,

I think you both are very smart about what you want and how to go about getting it, or getting it done. I was in that place last year...had my last straw while on the Weight Watchers diet. I know dieting doesn't work for me, because I always go back to the old eating habits. I have found that the band helps in many ways for me....I don't crave as much of the sweets as I used to, I feel fuller a LOT faster(duh), and when I DO feel the urge to be bad and don't really want to be bad, I can remind myself how much money I spent on this surgery, and by crackety I am NOT going to eat that today!! There are other things too, but these are the main ones.

I have been divorced for 4 years, didn't do much dating due to my weight mostly. I just knew when I was ready to start going out again. I think you will both come to that time in your life, when you start to be happy with you and your own company, you will find that more and more people see YOU for who you really are. I know I crack myself up sometimes, and now I would like to crack other people up as well. And yes, I have lonely times, though not as much as I used to. I can take care of most everything by myself( oil changes, fixing a hole in the wall, etc), but it is sure nice when I had a man around who WANTED to take care of me. It's that feeling that I never got with my exhusband. I am 34 now, got divorced around 29 or 30?ish.

Anyway, I guess my point is this...you just gotta take care of you first, then everything will start falling into place for you. You are doing that right from the git go, so keep it up.:clap2:

I havent' been out lately or I would tell you guys tall tales, but nothing to tell as of yet.....keep your fingers crossed.

I did get on the scale this morning, it was 190!!! Of course if I get on it now it will be like 196 or something, but that was the lowest it has been in 7years!!!! woo hoo!

Ok Guys,

So the fun begins! I have a lunch date with Steve tomorrow and I can't wait to meet him. We're meeting at Saltgrass Steakhouse, for those of you who live in the area. Good place to eat, but a little noisy for my liking for a first meeting, but it was his choice.

I was hoping to meet Daniel first, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. He called me Monday night and I was still in Amarillo, so he wasn't happy with my daughter at all. He had hoped I was already in Sherman resting from the long trip. Instead, I had to drive literally all night long. We left my parents house at 1:10 am and arrived in Sherman at 7:00 am. I rested for a few hours, did not sleep, and went to my doctors appointment at 3:00 pm. Anyway, Daniel told me he would call me later in the week, and it's later in the week now damnit! I'm ready to meet him now! Can ya'll tell I don't have much patience.

Now the latest with the ongoing Donny saga. He called me Tuesday night in the middle of the night and talked and talked about all of his women. I hadn't heard from him in over 2 weeks before that, and I didn't realize how nice it would be not to have to hear about them. Well, he called back last night and told me he had decided he was going to be a one woman man. He asked if I knew who he might have in mind, and I said yes, Sandy. She's one of his friends. Anyway, he told me it wasn't her and he really didn't have anyone in particular in mind. Of course, this was after I told him I had met someone and told him his name was Daniel when he asked his name. What a load of crap! When I wanted him, he didn't think I was good enough, so now that he wants me, it's to late. I've moved on and found other men who do find me attractive and want to be with me. So, I guess he lost out. Oh well, his loss not mine!

Donny is a game player. I like him less and less the more I know. You definitely don't need that in your life. These new guys sound like a lot of fun and are willing to take you out and wine and dine you. Have a ball!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
