jennaleigh1992 43 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm 5'5-5'6 and weigh 334. Im on my pre op diet now and I plan in being about 320 surgery date. I'm just curious how fast or slow the weight is coming off for people like me. Do you work out? How often?! Thanks!!
Deanne 22 Posted February 5, 2013 I think it just depends on the person and their metabolism rate. I haven't noticed a weight loss yet but I'm not climbing on the scales yet. I read about someone yesterday losing all sorts of weight in his first week but he is very active.. I on the other hand haven't been as productiive. Weather is just to darn cold to go out in, Can't find anything to wear that won't bother my incision area,. I get sleepy to quickly etc. I do walk around the house alot waving my arms around like the Nutrionist suggested to release gas from that area. I'm sure you'll do great and Good Luck
Keepgoing247 116 Posted February 5, 2013 I think I'm losing at a fairly good pace. I wouldn't consider myself a fast or a slow loser... When is your surgery?
12345 80 Posted February 5, 2013 My stats are very similar to yours. I had surgery Dec. 18 and initially the weight came off really fast. I'm 7 weeks out now and have lost 64 pounds.

FeeIsMe2 508 Posted February 5, 2013 I started at 338 & 5'7" and had lost 50lbs by my 10/10 surgery date. I have lost another 58 since surgery. Honestly, any loss is a good loss in my book. Good Luck!

JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted February 5, 2013 Right before my first surgical consult I was 355, in June, 2012. By surgery (12/11) I was down to 296 and as of this morning I was 263. Initially in my mind I was losing slow after surgery and comparing myself to others. Clearer minds, some helpful words from some vets here and my doctor's telling me to relax an enjoy it. I'm confident I'm doing well. I've been walking and riding a recumbent bike, I got cleared to up my exercise and incorporate weights, and plan to add those in. Good luck!! LifetimeLoser 208 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm 5'5-5'6 and weigh 334. Im on my pre op diet now and I plan in being about 320 surgery date. I'm just curious how fast or slow the weight is coming off for people like me. Do you work out? How often?! Thanks!! Hey I'm 5'5" to 5'6" depending on how I stand. I started at 311lbs...got down to 298 on my 2 week pre-op diet...I had surgery on January 30th, 2013 and am now 291lbs. I'm not sure if all the swelling has gone down (I have my one week post op appointment with the surgeon in two days). It seems I have been losing 1-2lbs a day and I am not very active at all. I go walking once a day and that is about it. I plan on picking up the pace soon.
Spatters3 315 Posted February 5, 2013 All you pre-ops : you are going to love being sleeved! eventually! You will suffer through a miserable couple of weeks, then get sideswiped by the emotional rollercoaster (I magically transformed from Glinda The Good Witch to The Wicked Witch Of The West every half hour for a few days) but then... ahhhh.... those first tastes of cream Soup - heavenly! and refried Beans - ooooh! hahahaha Seriously, congratulations and I pray you all have a great journey. I am quickly approaching my 1 year sleeve-versary (Feb. 13) and I am still delighted with myself for getting the VSG. My highest weight was 360, day of surgery 331, and am now 248. My weightloss has slowed to mostly a stop but that's because I have been dealing with chemo & radiation & surgery and not caring a hoot about weightloss. I don't exercise at all and am really looking forward to joining the YMCA with my granddaughter this summer, God willing - mostly for the pool but I'm sure I'll get involved with other things too. I thank God I got the VSG when I did - just 3 months before being diagnosed with uterine cancer. It has made all the difference in the world to be 100lbs lighter. I don't think I could have gone through all that I've been through over the last few months being over 300 lbs. God bless!
sleevieray 25 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm 5'6" and was 331 pounds at my highest weight in mid-2012. I was 316 pounds on the day of my surgery (12/20/12). I have been 297 or 298 pounds (depending on the day, aaargh) since 1/18/13. I am doing everything I'm supposed to do, but I can't break this stall. I've also been trying to concentrate on NSVs instead of what the scale says, but I have been feeling very discouraged and depressed for a couple of days. I know I shouldn't compare my weight loss to others' losses, but that's hard to do sometimes. Thanks to everyone who posted their amazing progress! Your posts are inspiring and got me out of the dumps today. I'm sure I'll look back on this month and laugh once I'm six months post-op.

It works for me every time Sent from my iPhone using VST
