Who still loves to eat after being sleeved?

Recommended Posts

I love to eat still which sucks!! I look forward to eating my meals every 2-3 hours and food tastes just as delicious as it did before being sleeved. I cannot eat very much at a time (usually 1/2 cup) but I still love food damnit LOL!! Anyone else feel the same way??

I still love food, I just make different choices now, and of course smaller portions. I see where the majority of people say this is hard, but I haven't found this to be the case for me. Perhaps it will get harder.....if so, I'm up for the challenge. :)

I still have to think a lot about my food and my food choices. In answer to your question is no, I do not enjoy eating anymore. It is such a chore that I would be happy if I didnt have to eat. Now, I only eat in order to survive and be healthy. None of it is out of sheer love for food. Anyway, that is me,

LOL I do, but I'm happy that I can still enjoy the things I always loved, I'm just chosing just healthier versions. I love that I feel satisfied after 4oz. and that my taste buds haven't changed (yet?) I'm not hungry, and I find I'm taking more time with what I have and really enjoying it.

Are you hungry? or just loving what you're having??

I still find myself to be hungry and craving certain foods, but I don't eat nearly what I used to of them. I hardly eat any breads, pastas, or rice. I find that I just don't crave them like I used to and they make me feel slow and sluggish, so i guess I'm not missing anything! I still find myself thinking about food a lot. I wish I were like some people on here who say they are no longer hungry. I so wish that was me, but I find that the further out from surgery I get, the more normal I feel, the more I worry that the sleeve isn't working.

I still like to eat, just a lot smaller portions and more Protein. I wouldn't want to not enjoy food any more; it's just important to control what I eat & how much. I am learning to turn my love of cooking into becoming creative in ways to cook protein and use spices etc. in order to achieve variety.

Wow this is me too! I wish I was one of those ppl who lost their appetite and it never returned. And I worry that my sleeve won't work either. I am making good Protein choices but I think I'm eating too many times during the day 6-8 times. Well I will find out Thursday if I lost any weight in a weeks time.

Sigh.... This is me too. I still get physically hungry. Not growling, but a gnawing, empty feeling. Of course I get head hunger too and that is something I work on. I wish I could forget about eating like some people do, but that's not how my sleeve works. My tastes have changed, now not only do I love sweets, but now I crave salty too, lol. Have to laugh, but it's really annoying :(

I love to eat still, and I'm super happy about it! Like JerseyGirl, I'm happy to finally be feeling satisfied, with healthier foods and smaller portions.

AngelaMarie, I eat every 2.5 to 3 hours, and I like it that way. It helps me stay energetic, satisfied, and keeps my metabolism up. I get lots of variety during the day, which helps keep me from snacking.

Of course, you have to ask yourself if you are eating just because you can, because you are thirsty, or because you are genuinely hungry.

Like SummersGirl, I find myself craving more salty than sweet, but I figure that's a good thing! I still enjoy dessert, but it's easier to stop eating it after a few bites.

If you eat every 2.5 to 3 hours, how do you get all of your Water in with stopping 1/2 hour before you eat and waiting 45 minutes to drink after eating? Someone told me their surgeon said never go more than 3 hours without eating but I can't get the liquids in if I do that. I am drinking about 5 (16 oz) bottles of water a day and 1 Protein Shake.< /p>

My surgeon gave me an outline of 15 minutes before meals, and 30 minutes after meals. You are getting in a lot more liquids than I am, so good for you! I get in 8 glasses of water, and 1.5 cups of milk.

I do feel like I am constantly eating or drinking something at times, but I'm studying right now, which makes it easier. I'll have to see how it goes once I start working!

I'm still a slowish drinker, but can now finish a cup of water in maybe 5 to 10 min, where it used to take me 15 minutes before.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
