losingit629 0 Posted February 5, 2013 Honestly I'm miss food BADLY, but satisfied with my decision to go thru with the surgery! Now this is the secret I've been smoking cigarette! I KNOW AM A BAD GIRL!!! I was a smoker pre surgery but I also lost 43 lbs prior to going into surgery on 1/31 but I couldn't give up both of my vices at once (food and cigarettes)! I try to smoke less than 5 cigs a day but honestly how much damage am I doing to myself by smoking???

Rycherchick 147 Posted February 5, 2013 That is loaded question. I think you know the answer. Its not good with healing and you know all the risks. Ive never been one but my doc said he cringes when his barr. Pts are s mokers, they dont heal as well or as quickly. He said the worst co mbo is a morbidly obese person who smokes too. You did the surgery to get jealthy maybe talk to someone about a cessation program cuz lets face iy even if u are thin if you still continue to smoke you are still unhealthy. Good luck

Good luck[/quote'] I know its horrible and I'm not proud of this at all! believe me I am trying my hardest! Ive cut back a lot! I've follow the rules with everything(including losing 43 lbs myself prior to surgery) but I'm really struggling with this part! I think the cessation program may help, I looked into a FFS(freedom from smoking that's offered by the American Lung Association)!

wannabaloser 59 Posted February 5, 2013 I have never smoked so I am not the best help on this question. I can say my grandmother smoked 2-3 packs a day for 50 years. She got very sick from COPD and had to spend 2 weeks in the hospital. When she came home she never smoked again. She also made her home non-smoking which I am sure helped alot. If she can stop I know you can!! Also I have heard people have really good results from a medicine called Chantix. You should ask your Dr. about that also. Good luck with this and your weight loss.
