1/3 of my way to goal - how are others doing looking at their journey

Recommended Posts

today is day 20 post op. While a few 1 day stalls and a slower pace than I had imagined - pretty darn happy with results and restrictive feeling.

When updating my tracker I realized since I started my journey Oct 7, 2012, I am 1/3 my way to goal.

On Oct 7 last year I turned 42. I was my heaviest ever and looked in the mirror and knew if I didnt get healthy I would die young leaving my wife and 3 young children (2,4,6) alone. Scared the crap out of me!

Lost some weight, then found a co workers wife who had a VSG about Halloween. Went for first doc visit Nov 15 and was 356. Was 333 day of surgery on Jan 16 and just so thrilled to be a third to goal.

As inspiration for all of us - please share what fraction of your journey you have completed. While pounds down are exciting - really exciting to think 1/3 of my excess weight is gone - and for the first time - hopefully forever!

I am happy to hear about your weight loss and success, I was sleeved on Nov 13 , 2013 and I have lost 42 lbs ( Start weight 237 , day of surgery 222lbs, current 195) I am very excited and happy about the weight that I have lost so far , but when I think about my goal weight , it seems like it will take forever even seems like it will never happen . ( My goal weight is 140 , that is my thinnest ,before I married)

I am excited when I realize that I can no longer fit the plus size and now wearing regular XL and 16 , misses size ......... the down side to this is that I start to see my skin sagging .... I am very unhappy when I have to look at myself in a full lenght mirror , I see my belly overlapping and I pray that as I lose more weight , it will all even out. :( .

Congrats on your awesome weight loss!

I was sleeved on 10/10/12 and have lost 108lbs so far, my highest weight was 338 -- I would like to be at least 159lbs (normal BMI). So that would make me a little over halfway there...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
